Weekend Confirmed Episode 24

by Peter Barta in Games2 days ago

This week’s Weekend Confirmed is absolutely packed, despite being down one member.  With Brian sick, its Garnett and Jeff touching on all manner of content, starting with Whatcha Been Playin?  They spread the wealth this week, talking about Dead Rising 2: Case Zero, Shogun 2, Mafia 2, Sonic Riders for Kinect, and F1 2010.  Garnett gives a quick teaser for the upcoming Borderlands DLC and Jeff explains his new favorite boardgame Cutthroat Caverns. The Warning gives us the third week of discussion surrounding shooting in games and potential...

Mobcast

Mobcast 54: CO-OP on Co-op

by Alex Martin in Games111 days ago

Ryan O’Donnell and Cesar Quintero of Area 5 media, producers of CO-OP, are hosted by Bitmobbers Demian and Brett. Appropriately, the theme for this episode is co-operative gaming and Demian starts with his topic — games the panel only plays co-operatively. Some games are just better when you have friends there with you, like Phantasy Star Online, which Ryan seems to think is the same offline as on, but is transformed when your friends are there to check out your loot. Ryan has a cool idea — more games should have two-part weapons...

Weekend Confirmed Episode 5

by Alex Martin in Games135 days ago

Before they can confirm your weekend, Garnett, Jeff, Brian, and Billy talk about the games they’ve been playing. Garnett is happy with Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Monster Hunter Tri. Jeff thinks Monster Hunter is antiquated, sluggish, and impenetrable but Brian tells him to go play it co-op. One of the last this week of many podcast crews to talk about Captivate, they have mixed feelings on Dead Rising. They also saw Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Okamiden, and Sengoku Basara. In the Cannata-Afford-a-Game segment, the four give cheap game recommendations....

Rebel FM

Rebel FM 59 – 04/21/10

by Alex Martin in Games135 days ago

The regular cast are joined by semi-regular Matt Chandronait, and IGN’s Scott Bromley. They teach us some new euphemisms for sex before talking about the games they’ve been playing. Anthony’s been playing Ghost Recon: Future Soldier — which brings the series into a third person perspective — and Starcraft 2′s campaign. Tyler has been playing an intriguing indie shooter called Drone. Everyone’s been playing Splinter Cell Conviction and liking it, although Matt complains that it is more linear than previous...

Three Red Lights

Three Red Lights Podcast, Episode 142

by Jonathan Downin in Games137 days ago

TRL starts with a whole lot of Halo: Reach talk this week. Charles had a chance to get a sneak peek at the multiplayer beta which is due for public consumption on May 3rd, and he has plenty of details to share. Hilary and crew are especially excited about the addition of jetpacks to the game. Capcom’s recent event in Hawaii, Captivate 2010, then takes center stage with Marvel vs. Capcom 3. The crew aren’t too excited about the latest cross-over fighter, and quickly get into Dead Rising 2 which they say looks really rough. Word of Bionic...

The HotSpot

The HotSpot 04/20/2010

by Jonathan Downin in Games139 days ago

Kick-Ass starts the show this week. Although it’s not really game related, the guys enjoyed the movie a lot and want to recommend it. Capcom held their anual Captivate event last week in Hawaii and the biggest reveal was Marvel vs. Capcom 3. It will be in 3D, much like Street Fighter 4, and is said to feature more than 30 playable characters. The group talks a bit more about Splinter Cell and everyone is pretty high on the game. In news, word of a “taboo” new Kojima game kicks things off before the NPDs get some time. Software...

GameSpy Debriefings

The GameSpy Debriefings #115

by Jon Cole in Games199 days ago

This week’s Gamespy Debriefings is heavily dominated by talk about Heavy Rain, opening up with Anthony’s reaction to comments that his review is too vague about the story.  Anthony makes the argument that the game was only as effective to him as it was because he came in knowing very little about the plot and it took him by storm.  Miggels takes it a step farther and says that the game resonated with him so much emotionally that he actually felt bad when he performed unconscionable acts in the game. Next up is Ace Attorney Investigations:...

CO-OP Live: Bioshock 2 and X10 Previews

by Derek Lavigne in Games200 days ago

Week 2 of the live show brings a few changes as Area5 settles in to their new format. The packed couch is gone, replaced with individual chairs which still doesn’t feel quite right. Jay and Matt are up first to discuss Bioshock 2 while Ryan sifts through twitter questions to be asked at the latter part of the segment instead of lumping them at the tail end of of the show. As a whole, they don’t seem to have much negative to say about the game, citing improved sound, combat, and a changed environment. Matt does mention he wished the underwater...

Drunken Gamers Radio

Drunken Gamers Radio 02.13.2010

by Derek Lavigne in Games201 days ago

A Hilden-less show again this week as he is off dealing with real life (read: his wife told him he had better things to do), and the show is a bit lacking in being a duo. Like last week, Moe and John had a bit of trouble with the audio equipment and share their adventures to start off the show. Voicemails are skipped so a few emails get things moving for real. Blaster Master: Overdrive for WiiWare is first up in the reviews segment. John seems to enjoy it, but spends most of the time explaining to Moe what the original Blaster Master is all about...

Giant Bombcast 02-16-2010

by Derek Lavigne in Games201 days ago

Bombcast is recording a little late this week due to appointments to see games which means Brad is once again missing. Vinny kicks things off by baffling everyone with his return to Mass Effect 1. Jeff talks about his disappointment with Aliens vs. Predator before shifting into a long discussion about Microsoft’s X10 event. Jeff seems hyped for Game Room and equally so for Crackdown 2 and they also touch on what they saw of Dead Rising 2 and Splinter Cell: Conviction. The segment closes out once again in befuddlement as Drew reveals he has...

The HotSpot

The HotSpot 02/16/2010

by Jonathan Downin in Games201 days ago

Aliens Vs. Predator is out and it sounds like it is very faithful to Rebellion’s earlier Aliens vs. Predator games, but this is not necessarily a good thing. Perfect Dark for XBLA was announced at x10 and it garners some excitement here. Fable III is passed over rather quickly with Halo Reach, Alan Wake and Dead Rising 2 getting bigger chunks of time for discussion. NPDs and recent comments from Activision and Ubisoft have the guys pondering the state of the industry. Activision is closing and paring down some of their studios resulting...

Mobcast

Mobcast Episode 41

by Jon Cole in Games201 days ago

The Mobcast is back to their typical format, bringing on Garnett Lee of Shacknews and Justin Fassino of Machinima.com.  Demian’s topic kicks things off, asking the importance, function, and marketing capabilities of beta trials of games.  Most everyone can agree that betas serve many masters, but ultimately provide important information concerning multiplayer gameplay, especially in terms of balancing and design. Next up is the subject of X10, which was the reason Garnett and Justin came to San Francisco in the first place.  Lost Planet’s...

Game Scoop! Podcast, Episode 152

by Jonathan Downin in Games205 days ago

While many podcasts have focused on Microsoft’s X10 event, Game Scoop! starts with NPDs this week. Mass Effect 2 had very strong initial sales, but other games seem to have lost out to BioWare’s latest– except for Just Dance. X10 does get some coverage with the guys talking about Dead Rising 2 and Alan Wake. Perfect Dark has also been confirmed for XBLA and Daemon is especially interested in the update. Left 4 Dead DLC is touched upon before the group moves onto another edition of Knockin’ Boots. Emails run long this week...

4 Guys 1UP

4 Guys 1UP: 02/12/2010

by Jonathan Downin in Games205 days ago

It is an all X10 show this week and Garnett Lee stops by his old stomping ground to discuss some of the games that were on-hand at the event. Fable III, Halo Reach and Crackdown are the big games this week with interviews the their respective developers before the guys dig into their own impressions. Peter Molyneux is as enthusiastic as ever about Fable III and he addresses his “people will be pissed-off” comment. Bungie seems to be focusing on the technical improvements of Halo Reach with a lot of their commentary and recently released...

CO-OP – Episode 216: TGS Special

by Jonathan Downin in Games335 days ago

There is no narrative this week and next week’s show will be shorter with the guys taking a small break to gear up for the busy holiday release schedule and the premier of season 3. Dead Space Extraction starts the show out this week and impressions are positive all around. EA has been billing this as a guided experience, as opposed to an on-rails shooter, and it looks like this distinction is made with good reason. Ryan says he almost feels like this could be a new genre for the Wii. Tokyo Game Show talk takes a huge chunk of the middle section...
