Madden 11 kicks-off the show this week as Jeff has put a bit more time into it. He has also been playing some Dragon Quest 9 which he isn’t completely loving. Similar to LOVE, it is being funded by early purchasers who also get in on a lead-up-to-launch beta. It was Nintendos turn to show off games this week so it’s another packed show this week. Before that though Anthony talks about his time with the newest Borderlands DLC, The Secret Armory of General Knoxx. He has only played a couple of hours but it sounds like a substantial addition complete with new tiers of weapons to lust for. While many podcasts have focused on Microsoft’s X10 event, Game Scoop! starts with NPDs this week. Mass Effect 2 had very strong initial sales, but other games seem to have lost out to BioWare’s latest– except for Just Dance.
X10 does get some coverage with the guys talking about Dead Rising 2 and Alan Wake. Perfect Dark has also been confirmed for XBLA and Daemon is especially interested in the update. Left 4 Dead DLC is touched upon before the group moves onto another edition of Knockin’ Boots.

2010 means a new theme song for the GWJ, and it’s quite catchy. Darksiders start the discussion this week and the opinions are somewhat mixed. A GWJ classic, The Hunter, makes a comeback and the addition of a bow reinvigorates the love for hours of waiting in the brush.
Bayonetta wasn’t stoking any fires in the GWJ’s gaming loving hearts a few weeks ago, but things have changed and Cory is completely in love with the game. Borderlands is also returning with Sean enjoying his experience much more with the PC version.

A new year with the Bombcast picks up right where it left off in the previous year, with tales of ridiculous holiday break hijinks. Vinny and Jeff each take their turn solemnly calculating the massive amounts of money they spent on games they will never play during the Steam holiday sale (something Giant Bomb shares with CastMedium). Brad took the break to finally dive into Fallout 3 while he wasn’t eating fried chicken and Ryan played a bunch of Borderlands with Jeff.

It’s a “top 5″ extravaganza this week with the guys presenting their lists of top 5 movies, games, TV and moments of 2009. After each present their top 5, an overall top pick is chosen. Movies are up-front as always, and it is pretty easy to guess which film took top honors– something about being “moved by triumph.”
The games section is a little more contentious with a rather wide range of games represented, but it is a clear choice in the end. TV is a strange one as there are very few repeat entries on the guys’...
