The whole first part of this week’s Geekbox is interspersed with Karen’s fascination with a rather racy take on Alice in Wonderland extended fiction in comic form.  The world of comics is a crazy one, and this illustrates exactly why. It is a bit of a subdued episode this week without Karen and Greg to mix it up, but Jade Kraus and Justin Haywald from 1UP are on to round out the group.  As usual, Burn Notice starts off the discussion, but Jade and Justin are not followers, so things aren’t too lively. The difficult job market stories continue with Karen talking about the recent lay-offs at her company PlayFirst.  It sounds like they handled it in the best way possible and Karen was spared in the process.  It’s interesting to hear the juxtaposition of the against the 1UP layoffs in January. Starting this one is some TV talk as per usual, but Ryan reveals that in addition to Burn Notice, he has also been watching Jon and Kate Plus 8.  Things take a turn for the weirder when the crew gets into a little bit of Mario fan fiction creation though. Why must Nintendo pu out games that make us have to buy a Wii?  There aren’t that many amazing games on the Wii, but there are those games that are just good enough to make the system almost worth a purchase. Star Trek talk headlines the podcast with everyone chiming in on what they thought of the film.  Everyone loved it, including Ryan Scott who has a weirdly dedicated aversion to all previous entries in the series. As Ryan mentions at the beginning this episode was held until the embargo was up for the Bioshock 2 information.  The ironic thing is the embargo was broken and lifted early, but Ryan still held it– oh well.  Karen was there to see it and lays the story down in fine detail. The Geekbox is quickly becoming a TV podcast.  Lost takes up the first 20 minutes of the cast.  From here the group moves into some more general TV discussion.
