1UP Yours – 01/22/2009

by Jonathan Downin in Games588 days ago

Going out on a high note we get a big one this week, both in length and in topic. We get THE classic group on this final episode of 1UP Yours, back to the good ‘ol days in the aftermath.  It’s enough to make you a little nostalgic. Things have changed, that is for sure. After a tumultuous holiday break, 1UP Yours returns with a classic episode for the ages. It’s the end of an era, and Luke Smith returns to sit down with John, Shane, Andrew, and Garnett for an epic finale packed with Whatcha Been Playin’, NPDs, and lots of...

The state of 1UP

by Jonathan Downin in Blog, Features, Games604 days ago

As many of you may have heard, 1UP has been bought by UGO and this means many things, many of which we don’t know yet.  One thing we do know is that The 1UP show is done.  It really is shame to see such a great and unique take on the gaming scene go away.  It was certainly something that made Fridays worth the wait every week for me. It will be interesting to see what happens to the other 1UP productions like 1UP Yours, 1UP FM and LAN Party in the wake of this.  This story will be updated as more information comes in.  We wish everyone ...

Top 5 game & tech podcasts for the holiday break

by Jonathan Downin in Features615 days ago

Like blogs before them, podcasts as a popular medium for entertainment and journalism are on their way to breaking out. Anyone who is a follower of almost anything can attest, it’s easy to get excited about hearing people you respect, or are simply entertained by, talk about your specific area of interest. Games and tech are the focus around here, so here are 5 podcasts not to miss from this holiday break, along with 5 other great ones on the newer/smaller side that you may not follow. 5) TWiT Leo Leporte’s This Week in Tech is the longest...

1UP Yours – 12/26/2008

by Jonathan Downin in Games616 days ago

Although this is the continuation of last week’s edition, this really is a good way to do it.  Having it sliced into 2 parts is better than 1 long one as far as I am concerned. This brings up an interesting question.  Since people will (and should) inevitably take a holiday break, do you mind shows being recorded up to 2 weeks in advance to have something to release during the year end holidays? For the second, and final, part of the 2008 1UP Yours Holiday Special Garnett and Shane orchestrate an unprecedented two segments of Four Minute...

1UP Yours – 12/19/2008

by Jonathan Downin in Games622 days ago

Garnett is bringing us an epic podcast with this one; a podcast that was so big it had to be split into two parts.  The second part will be released next Friday.  This makes for a somewhat “artificial” podcast next week, but I appreciate the approach.  If it was all released today I would listen to it straight through, but now I will have some more 1UP Yours next week. There are a ton of guests on this one. Giant Bomb?  Check.  MTV Multiplayer?  Check. Gamasutra?  Check. It’s really interesting hearing these seasoned veterans...

1UP Yours – 12/12/2008

by Jonathan Downin in Games629 days ago

1UP Yours is the podcast I wait all week for.  When I first started listening I wasn’t a Garnett fan, but he has really grown on me. The big news of the week is the NPDs for Black Friday.  Can you say 2 million Wiis?  Also, the 360 outsold the PS3 2:1.  Sony really needs to kick it up a gear if they want to beat Microsoft this generation. Join the celebration of the holiday season with John, David, Shane, and Garnett as they talk about some great download games like Flower and A Kingdom for Keflings, as well as Prince of Persia, Tomb Raider...

1UP Yours – 12/05/2008

by Jonathan Downin in Games636 days ago

The beast that is 1UP Yours come in at a “short” 2 hours flat this week.  Talk of this week includes the fresh Mirror’s Edge, some gaming news and Shanes pandemic illness. Recovered from the holiday feast John, David, Shane, and Garnett get right back into the thick of the season’s videogame cornucopia. Everything from Mirror’s Edge to Zombie Smashers X4 Guitarpocalypse found its way into what we played over the past couple of weeks, and news starts with a Black Friday wrap up and goes on to wondering whether the potentially...

1UP Yours Special thanksgiving edition

by Jonathan Downin in Games642 days ago

Garnett Lee and the guys (John Davison, Shane Bettenhausen and David Ellis) sit down to talk about the games of this holiday season with some great Christmas gaming letters on the back end. Games covered: Valkyria Chronicles Far Cry 2 Peggle Dig into the day after Thanksgiving with a special holiday episode of 1UP Yours. John, David, Shane, and Garnett share tales of holidays past from the community to help get you in the spirit. And they’ve been playing games like Valkyria Chronicles, Far Cry 2, Peggle, and whole lot more. Runtime –...
