It’s episode 50(!), so get ready for an EPIC-ly normal show. Notable mentions in the podcast section start with news of the Bethesda Podcast (featuring Nick Breckon), the last The Idle Thumbs Podcast, and the addition of Alice Liang on The Geekbox.
The games section has Jon talking about his disappointing time with Kane & Lynch 2, and better time with the well-realized world of Mafia II. We also hit the Xbox Live price hike, which garners some wildly differing opinions.
It’s a big week in tech with Apple’s annual iPod event...
This may be the most all-over episode that we have ever recorded. It has been an extremely light news week, so we touch on some of the smaller bits to come out of GamesCom, and then we fill the rest of the time with asides and tangents.

We have a longer show this week in light of some bigger news items hitting over the past few days. Gamer with Jobs hit their 200th episode, so congratulations to them. Jeff Green announced that he has left EA and will be moving on to something else. GamesCon is happening and there may be some announcements, but this also means that it may be a slightly lighter week of podcasts.
Bioshock Infinite kicks-off the game discussion and we are all interested to see more about Ken Levine’s latest. Erik has been enjoying Monday Night Combat and is looking...
It’s a short, and somewhat loopy, show this week. We start with some podcast talk and Erik enlightens us about the Nicholson Baker podcast and article that was discussed on this week’s The Idle Thumbs Podcast. We also briefly mention the latest Engadget Show with Peter Molyneux.
Word of no Kinect support for Fable III at launch starts the game talk, and we move on to Civ V and the announcement of Torchlight II. Tech starts with a few tidbits about Windows Phone 7 apps, and Jon and I attempt to give an overview of the Google and Verizon...
This episode’s recording was split over 2 nights due to some internet troubles, but it is better for it. We start with the teaser info leading up to the August 12th reveal of Irrational Games’s new title, and then move on to lament the quickly approaching end of The Idle Thumbs Podcast.
In games, we quickly hit StarCraft 2 again and move on to discuss the recent changes to the IGN ratings system. Tech is full of Apple discussion starting with the new Apple gear and then moving on to the new iOS 4.0 jailbreak (which I used). Erik saves...
StarCraft 2 starts the cast this week, but we are not exactly the best group to be talking about it. Valve’s Alien Storm is an interesting release, and there really is no reason not to check it out since it is free on Steam– really, fire up Steam, just like Valve wants you to.
Official pricing for Kinect has been confirmed at $150. This a bit higher than many would have liked, but the $299 bundle seems to be just right. Also Street Fighter vs.Tekken and Tekken vs. Street Fighter have been confirmed. We are light on tech topics this week,...
Here it is, our first non-traditional, topic-specific podcast. This one is all about Inception. We spend 50+ minutes talking about why we loved Christopher Nolan’s latest. Spoilers abound, so if you have yet to see the film, give this one a pass until you have.
We cover our overall impressions, theories about the continuity of the story, minute details of specific scenes, and much more.
This is a new thing for us, and we had a lot of fun doing it. If you enjoy this, by all means, please let us know in the comments as we would love to do more...
It’s another glorious episode of the podcast– and it’s a good one. DeathSpank’s debut and Limbo’s kick-off of the XBLA Summer of Arcade are up first. If you aren’t up on Limbo, as always, the Giant Bomb Quick Look is a good primer.
In tech, we spend a good amount of time on the state of iPhone 4 after the mini ‘Jobsnote‘ last Friday. Spoiler: None of us are too happy. We are happy about the overview of Windows Phone 7 that hit the tech sites recently though, and Erik is in a holding pattern for its...
We start things off with a bit of discussion about the Mobcast since the most recent episode carried the torch from Irrational Interviews in featuring a bit of developer commentary.
As usual, Jon has been playing the new releases, and he shares his thoughts on Singularity and Crackdown 2. The onslaught of bad press surrounding the iPhone 4 continues with Consumer Reports retracting their recommendation of the handset, and we cover what this means. A few words about User Podcasts and submissions finish the show.
Covered topics and games: Mobcast,...
Okay, so we didn’t get all of the technical issues worked out. Jon still sounds pretty rough this week, but that doesn’t stop us from having a good time and hitting a bunch of topics.
The pilot episode of Irrational Interviews has us excited about future developer interviews. Crackdown 2 isn’t doing to well in the press, but Jon is still holding out some hope. The May gaming industry sales numbers from NPD yield triumph for Red Dead Redemption and disappointment for Alan Wake. Microsoft’s KIN is dead and we discuss Hulu’s...
So, after a week away due to technical issues, we are back with another week of technical issues. It’s almost like we haven’t already done 40 of these. While the audio is far from pristine, it is listenable.
We hit on a lot of podcasts to start the show and then move on to Jon and Erik’s impressions of the Crackdown 2 demo. Jon and I get into the iPhone antenna issue and have a few harsh words for Apple. Toy Story 3 gets some love from Jon and I close-out the show with a few words about Alan Wake after recently finishing it.
Also,...
It’s just Erik and I this week and we tear into the Microsoft announcements from earlier in the day. Kinect impressed me with the games shown during the media briefing and I get into my thoughts on how fitness games are perfect for the new control system. We also cover most of the major titles previewed for Kinect before giving an overview of the new slim-lined Xbox 360.
After quickly hitting the big core games from the conference, I have to get something off my chest about Bullet Storm– it’s not pleasant. A few quick comments...
Just two topics this week. We talk about the new Screened.com podcast and then move on to what we want to see at E3. A slim-line Xbox 360 alongside Natal has us all interested, and Sony’s recent PSPgo strategy leaves us baffled about what they may do at E3.
In tech, it’s all about the iPhone 4. Engadget has some great coverage where you can catch up on some of the details if you missed Steve Jobs’s WWDC keynote– just look at that screen.
Covered topics: E3 hopes and fears, iPhone 4

I have actually played a game this week. It happens to be one we talked at length about last week, but we get into Red Dead Redemption again. Also, the release of Alpha Protocol has us a little worried about Obsidian’s Fallout 3 follow-up.
In tech, the announcement of the ASUS’s Eee Pad has us speculating on how Windows 7 could work with a Core 2 Duo on a tablet. We also touch on rumors surrounding the potentially forthcoming re-invention of the Apple TV.
Covered topics and games: Red Dead Redemption, Alpha Protocol, Eee Pad, Apple TV...
It’s a big show this week. Gamers with Jobs‘s own Shawn Andrich (@certis) joins us for a special extended episode. The first segment is packed with all of the GWJ info you could want, starting from where it all began. Shawn also talks about how they have managed to cultivate such a thoughtful community, and he gives us an update to his list of favorite podcasts from last year. He recommends: Giant Bombcast, EA Podcast, Rock Paper Shotgun, 4 Guys 1UP, Retronauts, Hardcore History, The Moth, Search Engine, Smodcast, Tell ‘Em Steve-Dave,...
