For about one-half to two-thirds of an hour each week, with new episodes dropping every Monday, the brothers McElroy will answer any query sent our way, each fielding questions falling into our respective areas of expertise. We operate like a streamlined, advice-generating machine. It’s both terrifying and humbling to behold.

If you’re in desperate need of a bit of advice, don’t be shy! Simply send an email to mbmbam aat gmail dawt com, or Tweet your question using the #MBMBAM hashtag, and we’ll take care of that for you.

Irrational Passions Podcast is all about the news and personality. We cover all of the latest news and highlights from the past week, and give our personalities on the things we care about the most. Next up is the classic what we’ve been playing segment, but we throw a little twist on it when we cover our “Back Log Game of the Week”, in which we take a few hours every week to try and get back into our back log with the hopes of completing one every month or so. Next up we have our segment-heavy section of the week, where we maybe take on a discussion topic, bash of the week, or maybe hype up our own original game. Our bash of the week is where we have to rant to hell on anything stupid we find in the gaming-world. On get hype, we take a popular series and create a new sequel/prequel in that series with a new genre, mechanics, and characters spawned from our own original idea. Not to mention, there are constantly new segments being added here. After the second break, we tell you ‘Whatcha Wanna Want’, breaking down all the new releases, maybe mention some emails, or a contest, and then send it out.

Irrational Passions hosts are from all walks of life. Scott, more of an ego kind of guy, is a hardass gamer who comes at it from the pessimistic view. Alex is learned in the gamer world, and knows a lot about the industry and what makes games work, on top of wanting to be a gaming journalist. Evan is more of a casual gamer, who takes those call of duties, the haloes, or any other main FPS but is willing to take on a challenge. Not only do there personalities set them apart, but there are hard-headed and strong opinionated. Plus, being friends since the middle school years, they go way back and have a good level of comfort with each other.

Not only do they cover and discuss their games and news, but they break it down with their recommendations as well. The whole crew has different types of games they like, and will be reviewing them on the podcast’s website. When Scott gets a new FPS, he may send it Evan’s way, and he’ll pump out a review. They share, they communicate, and they play to their strengths. The teamwork and commitment in this show is high, and they all have some kind of irrational passion for games.

Unoriginal Soundtracks is a half-hour, fortnightly music podcast that explores video games.

Every other Wednesday I share a playlist of songs tangentially related to a single game or series. Songs about alien sex for Mass Effect, songs about world leaders for Civilization, and so on. Searching for random terms on Spotify is a great way to discover new music and rediscover old classics.

Find past playlists, from before Unoriginal Soundtracks was a podcast, on Cerebral Pop. The first two episodes of this new show are about Red Dead Redemption and Enslaved: Odyssey to the West.

The Weekend Confirmed for this week is dense, as Garnett, Jeff, and Brian are joined by Patrick Klepek of EGMi. Enslaved kicks things off with some gripes about its gameplay, but an otherwise strong showing (the hosts agree – more fun than good). Rock Band 3 and Def Jam Rap Star get plenty of attention, and Brian goes into some detail about Gears of War 3′s multiplayer experience (which sounds awesome). Jeff relates his most recent experiences with Sony’s Move and Time Crisis, but Brian seems pretty skeptical about just another light gun game.

Patrick suggests the Bit.Trip series for Cannata-ford, as well as UFO on Tape, while Garnett recommends Shibuya (all of these on iOS devices). Community feedback gets the guys discussing motion control vs new consoles, Halo’s depth of story, and how much gamers project themselves onto their characters, especially in making in-game decisions. The crew also discusses fail states and whether or not they are still necessary for games to be fun.

Panasonic grabs the news this week with their bizarre device – the Jungle, and Brian entices us all with saucy rumors of the Halo movie. The Killzone 3 beta starts soon, which raises the debate regarding Sony’s handling of PlayStation Plus exclusives, lotteries, and betas in general.

It’s been a while since we had a guest so we figured it would be fun to have EGMi’s Patrick Klepek join Garnett, Brian, and Jeff for this week’s show. There’s certainly plenty for them to talk about with games like Enslaved, Rock Band 3, Def Jam Rap Star, Gears of War 3, and more in Whatcha Been Playin? Your comments on everything from Halo: Reach’s story to how you invest in a game’s character open the Warning and then the conversation turns to whether games need the threat of failure to be fun. There’s also a preview of Indiecade happening this weekend in Los Angeles before moving on to news in the Front Page. This week’s top stories include Panasonic’s new “Jungle” handheld, resurrected rumors of a Halo movie, and word of new Marvel superhero games.

Joel, Glenn, and Josh discuss anything and everything PlayStation, and other gaming items as well.

This is a weekly show that is almost always posted on Thursday nights. In over 3 years, we have never missed a week, because we hate ourselves…

All 3 of us are in our 30′s-40′s and have all been gamers for many years. This is an independent show and is not affiliated with Sony whatsoever. We are also the first show to appear in the Community Theater in PlayStation Home, with regularly updated video features.

Show length can range normally from 90-120 minutes, but we have been known to go past 3 hours on occasion.

(Editor’s note: This post was written by the podcast provider and is part of our user submitted podcasts feature)

Hello Everyone! We, here at InDis, were recently turned on to CastMedium after we bought Android phones and were looking for a decent substitute for iTunes. One of our listeners recommended CastMedium and we have to say this has been the optimum choice for anything to do with podcasts on our Droid.

That being said, we always discuss what can provide our podcast with more listeners and I brought up CastMedium. We feel there is a ton of great content and commentary to give and would look to CastMedium to help us do so. But why would people like Interactive Distractions?

We always have seen ourselves as a “bar talk” kind of podcast. With 4 InDis members (3 audio and 1 video editor) that range from ages 28 to 33, we strive for nothing but a great conversation with good friends in a casual space (most of the time with drinks involved.) That being said, opinions can vary and a lot of times, we have to definitely settle beef on air.

Aside from our features, we discuss what games have been distracting us, news, releases, listener e-mails, and voicemails. We dedicate ourselves to our listeners. Every decision we make regarding InDis has their enjoyment at the forefront of our minds.

Finally, we have tons of great things coming in the future! The 2nd Annual INDISFEST in Atlanta, Extra Life (our 24hr gaming marathon for charity), great interviews coming soon, and even more quality video on Interactivedistractions.com and YouTube.

We hope you all take interest. We release every Monday and luckily, that’s a rather light gaming podcast day here on CastMedium (wink-wink.)

Notable podcasts to check out:

Episode 130 – Our interview with Mark Meer (Commander Shepard from Mass Effect!)
Episode 123 – We discuss objectivity in review houses

We’re more of a table-top gaming podcast but we recently started to branch out in our discussion to include video games and other geek culture topics. We’ve done a handful of interviews with table-top RPG industry figures including:
http://www.bearswarm.com/episode-71-gencon-john-wick

Our recent episodes have had video game topics explictly though the first hundred episodes also contain some video game discussion, even if it wasn’t the main focus of an episode.

From our About Us page:

Bear Swarm! Podcast features a group of, roughly, four friends who all game together. We’re vulgar, crude, and sometimes offensive but we’re always laughing. The group has seen a number of faces and is always looking to expand our host roster. Varying experiences and opinions in our cast means hopefully you can find someone in our team that you can relate with and trust. Be warned, we don’t censor our broadcast. Not family friendly and only safe for work if you’ve got headphones.

Thanks for your consideration.

Multiplaying is gaming as life allows. The hosts are gamers with responsibilities, who realize that having said responsibilities sucks at times. But, instead of making a podcast to bitch about that, we made one to talk about our stress reliever of choice; gaming. The show actually started as CoTcast, a podcast dedicated to Warhammer Online. As the group running the show slowly shifted from playing WAR, Multiplaying was born to keep the podcast going. Please don’t go in thinking you’ll hear some breaking news, strategies, or spec recommendations for your favorite MMO class, instead, expect to hear other gamers talk about what they’re drinking, playing, and thoughts on games in general mixed with the occasional obscure movie or Futurama reference.

Most people who enjoy the show tell us that they do because it reminds them of talking with friends about games. We hope you feel the same! Please check us out and let us know what you think over at Multiplaying.net.

Our most recent episode is 36, which includes our post E3 coverage. You can download that directly here: http://media.libsyn.com/media/multiplaying/MP_36.mp3

The Midwest Nerds Podcast features four regular guys from Minnesota, North Dakota, and Iowa discussing everything that nerds from the Midwest might find interesting. Jason, the host and producer, uses his skills as a professional radio personality to craft a show that possesses polish and style. Joel spends his time dabbling in and analyzing as many games as possible, while Nick tends to focus on the social and multiplayer aspects of gaming. The world’s foremost Zombie Survival expert, Dr. Steven Nelson, rounds out the crew.

Episodes typically start with a raucous chat about the latest gaming news in the opening segment, Tour de Blogz, which features the most interesting tidbits the guys manage to find around from around the web. Next up comes Recent and Rediscovered, with details about both new and old games that have dominated the Midwest Nerds’ lives for the last week. After the break comes the feature segment with varying themes each week, though recurring favorites include Wax Philosophical, Wallet Watch, and Game/Set/Match. Bringing it home at the end of every episode is Steve’s Zombie Tip of the Week, where the forward-thinking guru shares vital information that will help you when the dead rise from their graves.

This show doesn’t feature jaded industry insiders or journalists who get free games, but instead has regular guys who are still in touch with the hobby level of gaming. Thankfully, however, that doesn’t mean they need to sacrifice production values or intelligent discussions.
