Weekend Confirmed Episode 1

by KirePDX in Blog, Games164 days ago

After six months away from the host chair, Garnett Lee is clearly excited to be at the helm of a new show, and Weekend Confirmed starts strong out of the gate.  Garnett borrows heavily from his time at 1up, bringing along the Whatcha’ Been Playin and the 4 Minute Warning segments, which only makes the show a better fit to fill the void left as 4Guys1Up figures itself out. Garnett is joined by Totally Rad Show’s Jeff Cannata and Shacknews’ Brian Leahy who strike a good balance of being entertaining and informative while keeping up the...

CastMedium forums are a go!

by Jonathan Downin in Blog519 days ago

When CastMedium launched one thing we wanted to provide was a place for discussing podcasts.  With the introduction of the forums we hope it makes it just that much easier to participate.  There are some forums in place now and depending on how things evolve, the structure and topics are flexible, so let us know what you think. The forums are there for you to start or join in on a conversation.  Anything goes, so go check them out.

OnLiveMedium launches

by Jonathan Downin in Blog, News528 days ago

Many of you following the happenings at the Game Developer’s Conference this week probably have heard the announcement of the new gaming service/platform OnLive.  It has quickly caught the imagination of the industry while at the same time breeding skepticism. Today marks the launch of our first sister site OnLiveMedium.com.  The site will cover all relevant news in regards to the OnLive platform and occasionally provide more in-depth analysis pieces.  Like everyone else, we don’t know the fate of OnLive, but whatever it is, you...

New Servers = Faster Loading

by Jonathan Downin in Blog532 days ago

Some of you may have noticed that the site was down for a few hours earlier today.  That is because we have moved to an all new grid-based server system.  If that doesn’t mean anything to you, don’t worry about it.  All you need to know is that the site will load significantly faster and will not be affected by traffic. Enjoy actually being able to read the site the speed.

Media update and Twitter

by Jonathan Downin in Blog554 days ago

As you may or may not have noticed, things are evolving a bit around here.  There have been various ongoing aesthetic changing over the past month and a bit of tidying up. We have incorporated the ability to listen to and watch the podcasts on each and every post.  From here on out, after clicking through a post you will be presented with an audio player or video player for the selected podcast.  Now you don’t even have to leave the site to have a listen or just give a podcast a preview. Also, we have joined the Twitter club.  You can...

Twitter SuperList is up!

by Jonathan Downin in Blog, Features576 days ago

We have noticed that many people coming to the site are looking to get Twitter information on their favorite podcasters, so we took it upon ourselves to make your lives just a little bit easier. There is now a central listing of all Twitter accounts.  Not everyone has one and we may have even missed a few, but head on over to the Twitter SuperList to have a look.  Let us know if we missed anything or anyone.

Site issues

by Jonathan Downin in Blog583 days ago

There have been some recent database connection problems here on the site.  We are currently working with our provider to figure out what the issue is and get the site reliably back online.  We will update you as problems resolve.

Re-designed and freshened up!

by Jonathan Downin in Blog596 days ago

Welcome to the new layout around these parts.  If you have visited before, we hope you like the new layout, if not, welcome! There are still some problems with formatting in Internet Explorer along with a few other things to be worked out and polished up, but everything should be in great shape soon. The goal with this re-design was to make the site cleaner and easier to read.  It has to be said, we were a little behind in terms of design before.  Let us know what you think in the comments.  Enjoy!

1UP.com down– and out?

by Jonathan Downin in Blog, Games599 days ago

We have just noticed that 1UP.com is no longer linked to the 1UP website.  The following message is displayed: You have reached a page that is no longer in our system. Click here to go to the home page. Upon trying to click the link provided you are redirected back to the same error page. It may just be routine maintenance, but with all that has happened at 1UP within the past week there may be grounds for serious concern over what is to happen with 1UP.  Although one would assume with the buyout by UGO that there would be a message or redirect...

Podcasts to add, help us!

by Jonathan Downin in Blog, Games, Tech604 days ago

We have been looking to add new podcasts to the line-up around here and now with the loss of many of the 1UP podcasts we are more than ready to make the additions.  There are some podcasts that we have on our list, but we want to make sure we are covering what you want to see hear. If there is something missing that you would like to see covered, let us know.  You can leave a comment on this post, send it in directly using our contact page or drop us an email at castmedium [at] gmail -dot- com. Help us make the site better for you!

The state of 1UP

by Jonathan Downin in Blog, Features, Games608 days ago

As many of you may have heard, 1UP has been bought by UGO and this means many things, many of which we don’t know yet.  One thing we do know is that The 1UP show is done.  It really is shame to see such a great and unique take on the gaming scene go away.  It was certainly something that made Fridays worth the wait every week for me. It will be interesting to see what happens to the other 1UP productions like 1UP Yours, 1UP FM and LAN Party in the wake of this.  This story will be updated as more information comes in.  We wish everyone ...

Happy New Year from CM

by Jonathan Downin in Blog613 days ago

Well, 2008 has come to an end.  I hope it was a good year for everyone.  We saw the introduction of many new podcasts this year and of course the launch of this site. Thanks everyone who has visited and continues to visit.  We here at castmedium will continue to provide a place for your podcast release information and news. Here is to 2009 being a great year that brings happiness and good things to all. Cheers!

Welcome to the drought

by Jonathan Downin in Blog625 days ago

As is to be expected, things in the podcast world are screeching to a grinding halt.  There isn’t much on the horizon for the next 2 weeks.  There will be the occasional release, but we can’t expect anything too regular. This provides a good time to take a retrospective look at the year in podcasts and what is coming in the future.  Although the frequency of podcast releases will drastically decrease until the new year, that doesn’t mean the site will be lacking content. Our goal here is to not only inform of new episodes but...

Slow Saturdays

by Jonathan Downin in Blog638 days ago

Saturdays seem to be slow in the world of podcasting.  It seems everyone likes to get things done by Friday so they can have a nice relaxing weekend.  People start feeling guilty on Sunday I guess because there will be more podcasts coming up tomorrow. Starting next week there will be a weekly roundup on Saturdays to let you know what you really shouldn’t miss of the week.
