Okay people, this is it, for real. This is the last episode of the CastMedium Podcast. Not too much explanation needed other than we are taking this show into new territory. Game Thing Daily, and the recently launch Tech Thing Daily, are where we are doing our thing now, so it only makes sense to do this thing, there.
We will still be doing a weekly podcast, and it will still be Jon, Erik and myself — just a little different. The CastMedium Podcast is transmogrifying into Podcast Thing Weekly (credit goes to Jon for this bit of genius). We are still not quite sure how and where we will post the show, but the feed will stay the same, so no need to re-subscribe. The new show will appear in your podcast catcher of choice as it always has.
Onto this week’s topics:
- Bastion
- From Dust
- Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet
- Jon’s PSPgo purchase
- FemSheps
- Google+
- Incoherent OS X Lion ramblings
- New TWiT digs
We’ll be back, better than ever next week, so stay tuned, we are just getting started!
If you missed the raw podcast chunk from last weeks scrapped show, here’s your chance to catch it. (NSFW)
Also, keep on eye on Jon’s blog over the next few days for a forthcoming review of Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet.

I actually forgot to mention the last (and possibly best) reason I decided to pick up a PSPGo… I'm now a subscriber to PS+, which gives me access to plenty of free/reduced PS1 classics and minis, both of which are playable on the PSP. Good stuff!
Dude, I logged SO many hours into SimAnt and Theme Hospital when I was a young girl. It's when I learned about the sadistic tendencies I have when gaming, what with playing as the spider to eat all the ants, and experimenting on all of my patients. It got much worse when I played the Sims. But anyway, I drooled quite a bit over From Dust when I saw the trailer, and from hearing your feedback I just may have to get it…
And Erik… CHAIN E-MAILS? I thought only the 60+ year old ladies in my office participated in those. >.>
On a more serious note, I think you should give some real consideration to opening up to your fan base in a social networking atmosphere. My comment to you on G+ was tongue-in-cheek, but there's some truth there, too! I especially enjoy a podcast when I feel I can personally connect with its members, and I'm sure that's important to other people, too. If we feel we can get to know you a bit outside of you talking near us every week, it greatly enhances the podcast experience! I'm not saying you have to jump into G+ with gusto; a little bit would go a long way here.
Anyway, just a thought.
I loved the format of this episode. It's been really fun listening to the castmedium podcast evolve, and I'm looking forward to PTW! You guys just get better and better!
Ooh, p.s. Jonathan… will you be keeping the same intro music for PTW? I've always liked it, myself.
First up, nope, the music is going to change. I'm working on some stuff.
Re: Sim Ant and Theme Hospital, YES! That evolved into a very deep love for The Sims (original version) for me as well. Sim Ant was certainly a huge part of my early development. That spider was truly a massive force in that game in a way that most modern games don't have equivalents.
I'm super happy to hear that you have enjoyed the show throughout our various iterations. The new show will be different, but it will still be us.
I'm always trying to find better ways to engage with the audience. G+ has proven to be the best way yet, so I will keep trying to take that approach. Certainly for the new show I will post a dedicated thread on G+ for each episode. I just wish comments could cross-pollinate between our sites and G+, but that may come in time.
This is probably my longest comment ever, so talk to you next week. I really think Jon struck gold with PTW– but then again, I REALLY love dumb things. ;P
Also, you're not alone, Erik IS like a 60+ year old with those emails chains (I'm glad I didn't have to say it).
Ha, you guys do realize that email conversations are represented almost identically in Gmail as conversations in G+, right? We're not forwarding around puppy pictures, but having conversations. Well, okay, there are frequently pictures of puppies, but still…
