If you thought day negative 2/Engadget Podcast Show 001 market a day of tablets, the guys are quick to say that say negative one/Engadget Podcast Show 002 easily surpasses it. Sony opens things up, presenting the Xperia Arc Android smartphone running the new 2.3/Gingerbread version of the OS. They also reveal their new Bloggie line of camcorders, one of which offers a 1080p 3D recording mode and playback screen.
Mobile devices dominate the middle segment of the show, starting off with AT&T’s 4G data plans and future devices. The HTC Desire 4G is AT&T’s answer to the EVO 4G, which is essentially the same phone running on HSPA+ antenna technology. Motorola also presented a whole new line of devices, including the ridiculous Atrix smartphone with 1 gig of DDR2 RAM and a dock that allows it to be a small Linux device with a windowed mode for Android apps.
The guys burn quickly through Android 3.0 Honeycomb, praising the slick interface dedicated to tablet computers and wondering how companies will adapt to the new OS. The show wraps up with news from Microsoft’s conference, including the incredible sales of Kinect and new Kinect-related features for the Xbox 360.
