Fable 3 is first up for discussion this week. Much of Fable 2′s confounding design has been fixed, but Tyler still thinks Peter Molyneux needs a director. Matt’s not as emotionally challenged by it, but they still agree that it’s a good game.
Anthony can’t understand why he still likes Super Meat Boy, but can explain his affection for Costume Quest.
Tyler’s tried the new Civilization 5 faction — the Mongols — and has found their traits well-designed for invading cities.
According to Anthony, The Force Unleashed 2′s writing a step below that of its predecessor. The repetitive design and lack of different environments also count against it.
Fallout: New Vegas is still broken, but that hasn’t stopped Arthur taking quests and being given away by his unstealthy companions. He can’t say much about Sonic Colors, but that prompts Matt to talk about Donkey Kong Country, which he praises for its creativity.
After a break, they talk about Kinect. They’re not allowed to review it yet, and they don’t get into too much detail, but Arthur is surprised at how well it works. They also manage more dirty jokes than you’d think an array of cameras and microphones could provoke.
In the letters segment, they compare real cities to their game representations, share their greatest gaming achievements, address the fallacy of alcohol-based hand-cleaners, and explain why digital-rights management doesn’t need to prevent piracy.
