The /Filmcast Ep. 119 – Let Me In

Vincenzo Natali joins The /Filmcast this week for a review of the movie Let Me In.  To start things off, Devindra has been watching Terriers (the FX show), and asks the listeners to watch it and encourage a second season.  Dave saw 127 Hours and really enjoyed it, and Adam was impressed with the unconventional style of Ryan Reynolds new film Buried.  Adam also saw The Human Centipede – it was terrible.

In news this week, video games and movies mix as the guys debate the potential success of the upcoming Uncharted movie, and the rumored Halo movie.  Super hero movies are still kicking as Zack Snyder is set to direct Superman, and the Spider-Man reboot gains another familiar face – Emma Stone will play Gwen Stacy.  Devindra plays the voice of reason with regards to the upcoming Star Wars 3D releases.  It may be agitating, but he’s right – no matter what we think of Lucas or gimmicks, we’re all going to see Star Wars in theaters, again.  A new Bourne movie is in the works, but won’t feature Jason Bourne and is apparently a completely new story set in the Bourne universe.

The featured review – Let Me In – provides an interesting mix of conversation.  All the hosts loved the film, but also didn’t quite know how to feel about it compared to the “original” foreign film (Let the Right One In).  Despite the mixed emotions, they certainly recommend everyone see it, especially if you haven’t seen the foreign version.

This week, David ChenDevindra Hardawar, and Adam Quigleydiscuss whether they’re going to see Star Wars in 3D, try and figure out if Zack Snyder would make a good Superman director, praise the claustrophobic pleasures of Buried, and ponder a Bourne franchise with no Jason Bourne. Special guest director Vincenzo Natali joins us for this episode. Vincenzo’s newest film, Splice, is out now on DVD and Blu-Ray.
