This week’s cast begins with the introduction of Jack DeVries as an official staff IGN editor. Daemon and Ryan give the appropriate verbal jabs and compliments before jumping into the content. The first topic of discussion is a mixed review of the new XBox 360 controller, with some praise for the new d-pad, but equal confusion regarding the grey buttons and high price-point.
The omniscient debate continues as the guys cover the XBox Live price hike – though somewhat divided, their opinions are pretty tame compared to the community’s response thus far. Valve recently mentioned some surprises in the works, but Daemon just wants Half-Life 2: Episode 3 already. Dead Rising 2: Case Zero came out this week, and the guys reflect on XBLA’s Summer of Arcade 2010 and the upcoming Game Feast promotion. Daemon got a preview of Outland for XBLA and Trials HD is coming to WiiWare.
In response to some emailed questions, the crew launches into an interesting conversation about the present and future of game reviews and gaming journalism. Since Jack has recently finished a journalism degree, he has some timely advice for those looking to get into the business. The team caps off the show with some discussion around game development, e-sports, achievements, and off-topic emails.
