Very lately or very punctually — depending on your viewpoint — it’s the Oddcast. (With profanity and eating noises from the start.)
Sam is back from Germany and Holland, where he visited Cologne’s Gamescom and Amsterdam’s Amsterdam. He briefly reports on Ratchet and Clank: All 4 One before telling of the results of drinking at conventions. The Least Popular Character Tournament rages on, and they commentate on the results.
In odd news, Valve talked about their cancelled fairy game and what was so bad about it. Microsoft announced a price hike for Xbox Live, which isn’t a big deal for anyone who shops around. Disney have closed Acclaim’s doors, and Index Holdings have swallowed Atlus whole. Finally, Capcom have admitted they need to look to their foreign divisions for input on racial sensitivity.
In Recession Gaming, Sharkey spotlights another “Metroidy game” — Robot Wants Fishy. They also talk about stylish skiing game Solipskier.
Before answering their emails, they have some recommended reading. On the Introversion forums, Mark Morris blogged about almost going bankrupt. According to science, drinkers live longer. Also, 1UP blogger Matt Clark has some wedding-gift ideas.
Emailers this week ask about the failed consoles they liked, features they wish more developers could implement, and Dead Rising: Case Zero.
Covered games and topics: Ratchet and Clank: All 4 One, Valve’s cancelled fairy game, Xbox Live price increase, closures and mergers, Capcom and racism, Robot Wants Fishy, Solipskier, indie studios.
The gang reunites after too long apart. We celebrate with good discussion. Capcom’s cutting out the racism! Valve made a fairy game! Acclaim died, again! And for Recession Gaming: Robot wants fishy! All those exclamation points plus community questions in this week?s Oddcast. It’s good to be back.
