The Totally Rad Show – Episode 179: Darrenofsky

by Ross Adams in Games, Movies, TVAugust 24th, 2010 @ 12:08 pm

Taking a break from reviewing the big hitters this weeks movie is an independent Australian film called Animal Kingdom. While all the guys enjoyed the film they also agree it has issues, Alex thinks it went on about half an hour longer than it had to. Darrenofkys next film, Black Swan, is described as “the wrestler with ballet” by Dan at one point as the guys discuss the trailer. There’s a hint of some kind of supernatual element to the movie which has Jeff especially excited.

Another new segment this week “As seen on TV” in which the guys buy something that’s famously been seen on TV and try it out themselves. This week they try out the Shake Weight and, well, they don’t really come to a conclusion about it other than the fact it looks highly suggestive.

Any long time TRS fan knows that one of the first things the TRS crew raved about was the original Puzzle Quest. After the spin-off Galactrix was a disappointment it’s finally time to try out the real sequel in Puzzle Quest 2. Alex is in love with the game, the new weapons system and the enhanced loot aspect has him even more addicted than the first game. Alex and Dan have been playing the 360 version and have some complaints about how it controls.

The guys also briefly touch on Monday Night Combat, which they express has being a very cool idea with its mix of DOTA and a third person shooter. From how they discusss the game it doesn’t sound like they spent too much time with the game and as a result they are a bit down on the game. They summise that it could be much more fun if they had played it together rather than alone with random people online.

Independent Australian crime drama Animal Kingdom has us going wild. Does Puzzle Quest 2 recapture the magic of the fantastic first game? What the heck is Monday Night Combat? Will the Black Swan be more than just two hot girls kissing? Plus, our first As Seen on TV segment!

Runtime – 49:58
