The Geekbox: Episode 79

This weeks episode starts out with some big news. Andrew ‘Fitch Hitch’ Fitch is leaving the show for a while. This will be his last show since he is heading out of state for a new job. Ryan S. saw The Expendables and had a good time with it. He also brings up an article he found talking a about the casting of a non-existant all-female version of the film. Burn Notice and the news of a few new horror movies also get some time.

Fitch has been playing Madden 11, and while he feels like it has made steps towards being more accessible, he still can’t recommend it to Ryan S. Ryan H. talks about his trip to the tattoed hipster populated Portland and Karen gets upset over the mutual dislike between Californians and Utahites (?).

Star Wars is coming to Blu-ray, but the group is predictably upset that the original trilogy will be the Special Edition versions. More excitement and clarifications about PAX Prime close the show.

Wherein we discuss Andrew Fitch’s last hurrah, The Expendables, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (spoiler: the world is winning), evil dolls, Burn Notice, The Expendabelles, Madden NFL 11, Castlevania: Harmony of Despair, Not in Portland, the X-Men: First Class movie (and the horrors of Chuck Austen), Star Wars on Blu-ray, and our upcoming shenanigans at Penny Arcade Expo 2010. Starring Ryan Scott, Karen Chu, Andrew Fitch, and Ryan Higgins.

  1. JonCole says:

I am completely puzzled by the guys' contempt for X-Men: First Class. Judging just from the cast and Matthew Vaughn's pedigree, I'd be willing to bet that it'll land in my top five films of next year.

Possibly even more puzzling is their incredible optimism for Green Lantern. While I love the franchise, I think that the series's premise won't convert well into cinema at all.

  2. Ross Adams says:

I've learnt to never be surprised by the hate from the Geekbox cast, they are incredibly inconsistent in what they like and loathe. Pretty sure they wrote off Kick-ass without even seeing it so I don't think they consider Matthew Vaughn to have a pedigree.

I don't know enough about Green Lantern to comment but people's excitement about it has me interested.

Of course I'm much more personally excited about First Class, I absolutely loved Kick-ass and I can't wait to see what Vaughn does with Xmen.
