After a brief discussion of Greg Sewarts new glasses and his lamenting getting old the POP guys move swiftly onto the Bioshock Infinite announcement. Everyone is excited by the prospect of Irrational coming back to the franchise as all 4 hosts were big fans of the original Bioshock .
A few iPhone games kick off the what you been playing segment, starting with The Incident. It involved avoiding random falling objects (using tilt control) and then using those same objects to get higher while still avoiding more falling obstacles. Sewart also played Shining Force, which due to the nature of the game works better than the other ports of Sega games, in his opinion.
Downloadable games are all everyone has been playing this week it seems, starting with CJ who has bought Monday Night Combat on XBLA. An interesting mix of Team Fortress 2 and a tower defense game CJ has been enjoying it, especially the support class which allows him to avoid the often frustrating multiplayer shooter aspect.
Scott Pilgrim‘s nostalgic retro love fest is made for Phil, so naturally he loves it. Before he piles on the love though he takes a moment to complain about a gripe of his, the misusage of the term “8-bit” which gets used far too often to describe pixelart. With that out of the way he heaps on the praise for the game, which the guys agree doesn’t demo very well as it doesn’t present the persistent leveling system efficiently. As a result Phil was the only one to actually buy the game, although he does a good job of convincing the others they might want to pick it up too.
This week! Games! We talk about Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game, Bioshock Infinite, Pixeljunk Racers 2nd Lap, The Incident, Shining Force iPhone, Monday Night Combat, and oh so much more in this, the one hundred and ninety-ninth episode of the Player One Podcast. Oh, and we announce the next Game Club game too.
