DeathSpank starts the show and the guys have some middling impressions of the game. Also, everyone has gotten back in World of Warcraft with the Cataclysm beta now underway. After a few extremely negative comments about APB, Garnett talks about his lack of enthusiasm for Singularity. The free Valve release, Alien Swarm, gets a unanimous vote for Cannataford this week.

The middle segment has the guys again approaching the topic of games as value propositions. Garnett also explains how he wasnts to take a different approach to games coverage in moving away from the Consumer Reports style product overview. The second segment closes on the gaming milestones of this generation including Xbox Live and achievements.

In news, Brian covers the June NPDs where Red Dead Redemption maintained the top spot. They crew also discusses the confirmation of Kinect clocking in at $150 with a $300 console bundle. The show closes on the announcement of Dark Spore and Comic-con.

Whatcha Been Playin kicks it all off with NCAA Football 11, BlazBlue: Continuum Shift, DeathSpank, Sin & Punishment: Star Successor, and more. For the budget-conscious this week’s Cannata-ford a New Game includes a classic free Half-life mod. In the Warning it’s role-playing versus roll playing and concerns over there being too many games; but that’s after Jeff hears a little listener feedback on his Deadly Premonition rant. It all winds up in the Front Page with the 1vs.100 cancellation, word on new plans afoot at developer Double Fine, and all the rest of the news.

    I enjoyed the section of this episode that touched on the perennial value issue; Garnett is smart and his idea of himself as a pure genius critic even though he's not and I enjoy Jeff and Brian on this show more, was a good listen.

    So yeah.
