/Filmcast Ep. 109 – Inception

/Filmcast

This week’s episode of the /Filmcast is all Inception, all the time.  Before things start, Dave takes a quick moment to plug The Tobolowsky Files, which recently got aired on Seattle Public Radio.  If you don’t listen to Dave’s other major podcasting venture, it’s definitely worth trying out.

The first half of the show is dedicated to the reviews from the regular /Filmcast crew, starting things off with Devindra.  As a soundtrack-loving podcast, he quickly comments on the great score by Hans Zimmer, which he says never gets old as many times as he listens to it.  Dave and Adam comment on the scope, execution and originality of this film, which easily surpasses his recent work on Batman.

The second half of the review is shared with the New York Press’s Armond White, who many would argue writes contrarian, trolling reviews to get attention.  Suffice it to say that a summary like this can’t cover White’s ideas, which should rather just be listened to.

Note: Dave states the /Filmcast’s collective policy on what qualifies for spoilers early in this review, so if you don’t want any plot elements revealed at all, it might be worth saving this episode for after you see Inception.

This week, David Chen, Devindra Hardawar, and Adam Quigley delve into the mysteries of Christopher Nolan’s Inception. Special guest Armond White joins us from New York Press.

  1. At first I thought Armond was too dour an individual to be a hit-whoring troll but after listening to him for a while I came to the realization that he just isn't that intelligent to be as interesting as his crazy reviews would suggest he is. He comes across as a very boring, very sad old man. I couldn't finish listening to this episode because it was just too depressing.

I couldn't listen to it. His "review" of the film is more a critique on modern society and has little to do with Inception in any way.

  3. Funny how this guy who gave Inception a negative review for being to video gamey gave Transformers 2 a positive review.
