Rebel FM Episode 67 – 07/10/10

Rebel FM

Civil unrest can slow Rebel FM down but can’t keep it off the air. Ignoring politics, Matt starts with one 99 cent iPhone game, and two free PC games: Bit Pilot, Moonbase Alpha, and Red Remover. He’s also enjoyed prolonging his time with Dragon Age with the Leliana’s Song DLC.

Matt, Anthony, and Arthur sound like they had fun with Crackdown 2, but they have a long list of problems with it. At least it works well on-line, because it’s a lot more fun with friends.

Tyler’s been playing another four-player co-op game — Battlefield: Bad Company 2′s Onslaught DLC. His squad is highly competitive and has been using Onslaught to train. He’s also kicked some ass in one of Arthur’s recent favorites — Transformers: War for Cybertron.

Bringing the enthusiasm down a notch, Anthony wonders if his four out of ten review of 99 Nights 2 was too kind. The only good thing he can say about it is that it’s not as bad as some other Dynasty Warriors clones. Risk: Factions was less tedious though. The downloadable title uses a recent revision of the rules that keeps the game from slowing.

Sniper: Ghost Warrior was an interesting concept buried in a broken game. Arthur didn’t like its invisible walls and poor action segments. He also isn’t seeing what the fuss about Singularity is about.

Next, they quickly dig into listeners’ responses to their question of the week. They rattle off a quick list of under-appreciated gems, commenting on them but not discussing anything in depth.

Listen to the emails section to hear the follow-up to Mathew’s (very sad) letter from last week, as well as aftershave and penis stories.

Covered topics: Bit Pilot, Moonbase Alpha, Red Remover, Dragon Age: Leliana’s SongDLC, Crackdown 2, Battlefield: Bad Company 2: Onslaught DLC, Transformers: War for Cybertron, 99 Nights 2, Risk: Factions, Sniper: Ghost Warrior, Singularity, under-appreciated gems.

Delayed due to civil unrest in the Bay Area, we’re back a little late to talk about Ninety Nine Nights 2, Bad Company 2, and Crackdown 2. Then we move on to your underappreciated gems of the last few years, and close out with some letters. Penis indeed.

I looked but couldn't find the Rebel FM app they were playing with. Fortunately they just posted it on their Facebook page. It's worth joining their group http://www.facebook.com/#!/rebelfm for links like this.

    Here it is: http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http://itun…

I find it so strange that Arthur calls Dark Sector an under-appreciated gem and simultaneously takes a crap all over Singularity. Mind that I actually enjoyed both games quite a bit, but they both seem to be technically proficient at best, derivative in many ways, and lacking in terms of story. I'd be curious to hear him elaborate on the two in context with each other, because they seem pretty damn similar.
