Weekend Confirmed starts strangely this week, the crew addressing comments on last week’s episode with guest Adam Sessler (G4TV) before getting into the games they’ve been playing.

After 20 minutes of talk about the effective range of shotguns and the PS4′s draw distance, they address Metal Gear Solid: Peacewalker. Brian loves it, but Garnett sees it as a lesser version of a console game.

Alpha Protocol is next, and Jeff has some nice things to say about it. He thinks it functions well as a third-person action game, rather than an RPG and the four discuss its place next to equally expensive, but more finely-crafted products.

Garnett somehow manages to segue that into Rock Band 3, which was formally unveiled this week. The music game will feature a keyboard and ridiculously complex guitar controllers, and looks to Jeff like it will leave other music games in the dust.

They talk about cheap games next, and recommend Small World (an iPad board game), Deus Ex (which has a sequel coming soon), Kingpin (a hyper-violent FPS, unfortunately released close to the Columbine massacre), and Independence War Deluxe (a space combat game with a slower pace than most).

Garnett ditches the “four minutes” from The Warning, giving the next section a looser format. They discuss whether Microsoft and Sony’s motion controllers need a “killer app”, the pre-E3 announcements, and what they are/aren’t expecting from E3.

Ending the show is the Front Page. A lot of new games were announced this week, including Mortal Kombat, MotorStorm: Apocalypse, Dungeon Siege 3, and Red Faction: Armageddon. The iPhone 4′s gyroscope could have some interesting game applications and Garnett gets excited for Yakuza 4 before going ghost.

Covered topics: Shotguns, next generation of consoles, Metal Gear Solid: Peacewalker, Alpha Protocol, Rock Band 3, cheap games, E3 2010, new game announcements and news.

It’s not just the weekend; we’re confirming E3 2010 this week. G4′s Adam Sessler joins Garnett, Brian, and Jeff for predictions on whether Move or Natal have or even need a “killer app,” the potential that there might actually be a new PlayStation Portable announced, and, of course, what it will take and who will “win” the show. They also cover some awesome games in Whatcha’ Been Playin? including Metal Gear Solid: Peacewalker, Rock Band 3, and a quick revisiting of Alpha Protocol. Kingpin and Deus Ex lead a strong Cannata-ford a New Game lineup. And new game announcements pack the news in the Front Page.
