Filmspotting joins Russell Crowe for some target practice in Sherwood Forest with this week’s review of Ridley Scott’s latest, Robin Hood. Unfortunately, Adam and Matty agree that it seems to follow suit with last week’s film, Iron Man 2, in the muck of summer mediocrity. Though they did certainly enjoy the performances of many of the upcoming, young actors playing peripheral characters, they simply couldn’t get into the political rough and tumble that Scott tried to focus on. Cate Blanchett also impressed the guys with her imposing performance, but it seems like Crowe simply couldn’t keep up with her and falls asleep at the wheel in his role of Robin Hood.
There’s often not too much to editorialize on with each week’s edition of Massacre Theatre, but this episode’s performances were definitely worth a listen. Let’s just say that Adam recently warned on his Twitter account to not be drinking any liquid while listening to the segment, for your own safety.
The show wraps up with a top five list as always, this week highlighting Adam and Matty’s lists featuring their favorite directors of the past decade.
