This weeks episode was delayed slighty due to a last minute tehcnical hitch, judging from the show this hitch involved guest Chris Baker‘s audio. His audio is inconsistent throughout, constantly dipping in volume, it may be a bit hard for some to take. However this weeks show is an especially hilarious one so powering through is probably your best bet. As “Cbake” works for Marvel what you been playing unsurprisingly kicks off with him talking, very vaguely, about some upcoming Marvel game. Namely Marvel vs Capcom 3 and Spiderman: Shattered Dimensions, while he can’t and doesn’t reveal anything new Cbake does give a little more background on Spiderman.
The guys get into some magazine discussion as CJ picked up the new issue of EGM, he is very impressed with the overall quality of it from paper stock to the writing. The same can’t be said for Gamefan which he and Phil rail on for it’s general awfulness. Aside from some iPhone games, one of which can be one in a giveaway coming to PlayerOnePodcast.com, Phil picked up Super Street Fighter IV. He is having alot of fun with it but it somewhat miffed at some random omissions such as the theatre mode for rewatching the animated cutscenes from the story mode. He does think despite this it’s still a great value package.
In preparation of the glut of games about to be released this month Greg Sewart finally finished the first (yes the first) Assassins Creed. He had (obviously) been taking it slow, as he’d heard you shouldn’t marathon the game or it’ll just get tedious. However for this last stretch he felt he had too and discovered exactly why he’d heard this, the game quickly becomes a repetitive grind. He also played the Split/Second demo and notes having tried all their demos now the racing games he was interested in have all shifted priority with Blur jumping to the top and Split/Second + Mod Nation Racers getting a pass for now. Listener tweets round out the show.
