The Mobcast is a year old, and with this anniversary comes a warning of the coming apocalypse. Wait, what? Apparently there is only one year — 52 more episodes of the Mobcast — until the end of the world. We don’t know the agent of our destruction, but we do know that aliens will reveal themselves and abduct select humans at this time.
This week, regular hosts Shoe and Demian, along with former 1UP cohorts Crispin Boyer and Michael Donahoe plan for the end times. They have only one year to eliminate games from their piles of shame, and they must choose carefully which new games to play. Then, when the aliens abduct gamers, they will probably put us in museums that exhibit particular eras of gaming, so the four pick the year they would prefer to live in for the rest of their lives. These topics have our hosts in a nostalgic mood.
Human-alien relations suffer a setback when the aliens realize that we humans like to shoot them in video games. We’d better be ready to point to a different group we prefer to kill, so the guys brainstorm some potential enemies and demonstrative games.
Inevitably, we will have to rebel against our alien captors, so the four finish the podcast discussing which style of sci-fi game they’d like to escape in the style of. Normal service will be resumed next week.
In an episode of increasing preposterousness, ex-EGMers Crispin Boyer and Michael Donahoe join Bitmob’s Dan Hsu and Demian Linn to celebrate the anniversary of the Mobcast. The guys send off the podcast’s first year with a hilarious bang.
