As episodes of Player One go it’s a fairly jam packed one this week. The first two thirds of the show is made up of whatcha been playing, alot is the answer to that question. After the revelation that Greg Sewart watched every single episode of The Tester Phil kicks things off properly by talking about the new season of Sam & Max. He is very impressed, rather than rest on their laurels it seems Telltale have gone out of their way to make lots of smart interface and design changes to keep the games fresh.
Old school arcade fun is the jist of Phil’s feelings about After Burner Climax on XBLA. Greg Sewart also enjoyed it although he only played the trial. The Gregs take some more time to discuss Heavy Rain some more, this time Ford having finished the game, so beware of spoilers (time stamps below). Greg Ford has randomly been playing an older indie game, Osmos, he calls it deceptively intense.
Greg Sewart finally picked up Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing and is very impressed by how fun it is. The discussion quickly turns to tales of Mario Kart from back in the day as the guys lament that they suck when playing online. Why CJ bought Monster Hunter Tri is a mystery, he hated the demo and couldn’t get into the PSP game. But he bought it and it would seem he is glad as he is enjoying it quite a bit. The show closes out with an interesting discussion (sparked by a tweet CJ sent into the show) about games “journalism”.
