Matt Chandronait makes his fifth Mobcast appearance, meaning he’s now tying with Raychul Moore for the favorite guest title. Regular hosts Shoe, Demian, and Brett join him for a quick hour-long podcast.
The four start by answering a hypothetical question: which dead series would they like a new sequel for, and which living series would they erase from history for the privilege? They somehow manage to wish for Beyond Good & Evil and Splinter Cell sequels, both of which are still alive. But what would a Mobcast be without Shoe bringing up his favourite spy game? This section provokes nostalgia for Descent and Tribes from Demian and Matt.
They also talk about micro-transactions in free-to-play games like Farmville. They agree that a platform specific currency (like Kongregate’s Kredits or Microsoft’s points) are the easiest way to make impulse buys because it doesn’t feel like real money.
Moving on to more timely topics, they discuss the journalistic ethics of free press-events like Captivate. Matt took the trip for Area 5, but Bitmob decided not to let Capcom try to sway them with a beach-side vacation. They’re happy with this spring’s packed game line-up, which they call “Christmas 2″. We’re still expecting Alan Wake, Lost Planet 2, and Red Dead Redemption before June and Shoe, for one, needs a lull so he can catch up.
