The “what if I were a superhero” aspect of Kick-Ass appeals to many geeks and the TRS crew are no exception. While Dan and Alex do have some criticisms they are fairly minimal, all 3 hosts agree that it is a fantastically well done movie across the board. The fact that the film is able to juggle several genre tropes and still able to resonate is cited as it’s main strength. The guys also discuss the news that Joss Whedon is apparently in final negotiations to direct the upcoming Avengers movie, a prospect that has them all very excited.
While the love isn’t quite as strong Splinter Cell Conviction gets a similar reaction to Kick-Ass. This time it’s Jeff who isn’t quite as positive. He thinks that some of the fun of the game is lessened by the trial and error gameplay that the game retains from it’s previous iterations. That being said he thinks the co-op mode alone is worth the purchase. Alex and Dan adore the singleplayer however, Dan loves the fact the mechanics of the game can lead to unique action movie moments as you play. While he isn’t sure about the fact Sam Fisher’s moveset has been lessened Alex loves all the new mechanics, even the mark & execute which he thought may make the game too easy.
In between the movie and video game segment the guys answer some questions sent to The Totally Rad Show twitter account.
