Since last week Greg Sewart has finished Dante’s Inferno but his thoughts haven’t changed much. He wasn’t overly fond of the grotesque design of everything and from a general gameplay standpoint he cites God of War 2 as a much superior game. The XBLA release of Final Fight gets some love, the various visual options including a impressive arcade cabinet replication take up most of the discussion. Magic Sword barely gets a mention but its inclusion isn’t enough to make any of the guys pay the 800 points.
CJ and Sewart are at essentially the same point in Final Fantasy XIII, the 10 hour+ tutorial period is excessive by anyones standards. Sewart agrees that the systems should be dealt out piece-meal but thinks FFXIII goes way too far. Greg Ford rented Heavy Rain and although he has yet to finish it he and Sewart talk spoilers for over 20 minutes (timestamps below).
Sakura Wars apparently suffers from a slightly condensed version of FFXIII’s slow opening with an hour or 2 where nothing happens. Still, it’s unclear whether CJ will keep playing, he definitely convinced Sewart into not picking it up. Starting next week and all through May there are yet more huge games coming out, Sewart in particular is almost panicking at the prospect of having to pick up so many games in such a short space of time.
