The Game Informer Show: Episode 22

This week, Phil Kollar steps in to host and the first segment spotlights the two new maps packs that have recently been released for Modern Warfare 2 and Battlefield: Bad Company 2. After joking that MW2 players seem like they are on crack after the slower-paced BC2 games, Matt Bertz and Nick Ahrens discuss the ups and downs of each of the packs and how the games compare to each other. They also talk about what they would like to see from future map packs for each game and which maps they may like to see re-released in those packs.

The second segment focuses on the recently released WiiWare remake Cave Story. Game Informer gave it high marks in their review and Matt Miller and Meagan Van Burkleo step up to the mics to defend their scores and discuss the game’s origins as a PC freeware game in 2004. This seems to be a game worth checking out for all the hardcore gamers waiting for something on the Wii.

The third segment, in a Skype recorded segment, Phil is joined by Jeff Cork and Shane Bettenhausen from Ignition Entertainment to discuss Deadly Premonition. Shane talks about how he went about acquiring the publishing rights to the game and some of the parallels between this game and the old television series Twin Peaks.

Welcome to what may be the craziest episode of the Game Informer Show ever. With regular host Matt Helgeson out this week and a lack of new releases worth talking about, I step in for a special episode looking at some major DLC and a few unique releases from the last few weeks that we missed.
First up, Matt Bertz and Nick Ahrens step into the studio to talk about this week’s new map packs for Modern Warfare 2 and Battlefield: Bad Company 2. Find out which military shooter is currently on top in their eyes. Then Matt Miller and Meagan Van Burkleo stop by to discuss the much-loved recent WiiWare release, Cave Story. Get all the details on this retro-lover’s dream game. Finally in our very special last segment, Jeff Cork and I Skype in Shane Bettenhausen from Ignition Entertainment to get inside info on the quirky, ambitious budget horror title Deadly Premonition. Why are Jeff and I so obsessed with this obscure game? Listen and find out!
