This weeks Retronauts comes live (well almost) from PAX East. Regulars Jeremy Parish and Chris Kohler are joined by the returning Shane Bettenhausen and first time Retronauter Kurt Kalata of Hardcore Gaming 101. The subject of this episode is video game collecting, something all 4 on the show are familiar with.
Jeremy explains how he fell out of the collecting game, he began to feel having all these games he would never play was rather pointless. Chris Kohler is very vocal about the subject throughout, he clearly really enjoys “the hunt” and makes a point to note he often likes to own things just because they make interesting history/conversation pieces.
Alot of the later half of the show contains some useful tips for collectors. Chris advises telling people you collect, you’ll be surprised who will have random games you could add to your collection.
A very entertaining and interesting episode all round, the discussions give a great insight into the varied mindsets of collectors. You can also watch the video of the panel over at gamevideos.
Jeremy Parish, Shane Bettenhausen, Kurt Kalata, and Chris Kohler take to the mean streets of Boston’s Hynes Center to explain the mysteries of game collecting to a capacity crowd!

I was at this Panel and had a great time. One of the highlights of Pax for me.
Unfortunately I missed this one. Derek was there as well and he said that it was great. I wish I could have made many more panels.
Yea I was at this panel and was actually a little bit late. Luckily a friend of mine saved a seat because this was something I was looking forward to above many of the panels that weekend. When I heard they were discussing collecting, I couldn't be happier because that is a topic very close to my heart.
