gdgt is CTIA-silly this week, focusing mostly on mobile devices but managing to pack in some good gaming talk at the end of the show. Sprint’s first 4G/WiMAX phone has been stirring up some excitement among the tech community, mostly because the device offers not only the optimistic prospect of 4G speeds but also a solidly-built, interesting hardware design.
Dell’s announcement of the Aero 3 proves a little befuddling to both Peter and Ryan because it’s planned to be released on AT&T and it seems to be targeting a cheap, low-end smartphone market. Palm’s falling stock prices close out the segment on a sad note, with Peter attributing the company’s poor performance to backed up stock that just won’t sell.
With Nintendo’s announcement of its future announcement of the 3DS, Peter and Ryan talk a little bit about the prospects of such a device. Finally, Peter shares his experiences with the Playstation Move and ultimately has a far more optimistic view of the tech than almost anyone else, stating that the up-resed graphics as compared to the Wii are compelling enough to sell it.
It’s CTIA week, which means we’ve got another mobile-heavy (well, actually more Android-heavy) show. Among the week’s news, Sprint and HTC announced the first WiMAX phone: the Evo, while Samsung launched the Galaxy S, and Dell showed off the Aero (aka Mini 3i). Palm’s stock took a huge tumble after a depressing earnings call, but we’re looking forward to Google TV and the Nintendo 3DS, which we’ll hopefully learn more about soon. Finally, Peter got a little hands-on time with the PlayStation Move, and we’ll dig into motion-based gaming once more.
