After a week of craziness and wild stories at GDC, the Bombcast is back in the basement this week. After a quick roundup of previews from events and parties the previous week including Splinter Cell and Medal of Honor, Brad admits that he is now enjoying Final Fantasy XIII but says that it took him eight and a half hours to get to that point. Also on the Japanese RPG front, Jeff started Yakuza 3 and so far thinks there are a lot of weirdly broken components that made it into the game. Ryan mentions seeing the new Lara Croft game and seems interested in the direction it is taking control-wise. Ryan quickly touches on his time with Star Wars: The Old Republic before moving on to Split/Second.
News starts off with the announcement of the Modern Warfare 2 map pack which everyone seems to agree is overpriced at $5. Before moving away from Activision, they mention the former Infinity Ward heads joining up with a talent agency, which all agree is a little strange. Telltale games have a multitude of game announcements and definitely seem to be “moving forward” as Ryan puts it. The issue of the Ubisoft DRM debacle grabs hold of the conversation for a good while before the podcast is closed out with releases and emails.
