Drunken Gamers Radio

Drunken Gamers Radio 01.29.10

by Derek Lavigne in Games724 days ago

The show starts off this week as usual with some entertaining, uplifting Drunk Dials but unfortunately the mailbag is not so lucky and ends on a downer. But doing their best to bring things right back up, the guys announce they are holding a contest to win a copy of Bayonetta which was donated by a listener. All you have you do is design the craziest Japanese video game character possible — this should be interesting. The reviews segment starts off this week with No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle for the Wii. John admitted that he hadn’t...

The Totally Rad Show – Episode 150: Hockey Kahn

by Ross Adams in Games, Movies, Tech724 days ago

Edge of Darkness is the movie this week, the guys describe it as part revenge film, part political intrigue film. Alex and Jeff think the execution of this combination is very well done and enjoyed how each aspect complimented the other to give things a bit more impact. Dan however disagrees completely and in fact thought that each aspect of the movie was mediocre and the combination made them less than that. In a previous episode Dan hoped for a shooter where the distant sounds of battle were in fact other players, MAG certainly fits that criteria....

TWiT 233: Apple ][ Forever

by Jon Cole in Tech725 days ago

TWiT unsurprisingly starts off with a bit of conversation about the iPad, with John and Leo taking their pessimist and optimist roles as per usual.  The biggest debate over the usability of this hardware concerns the readability of eBooks on the LCD screen.  Leo maintains that he appreciates the ability to skim through articles in newspapers and magazines, while John argues that the paper-like qualities of E Ink is still optimal. Next comes the debacle over Macmillan books on Amazon, which were temporarily pulled due to a conflict between publisher/retailer...

Irrational Behavior Episode 2: The Way Things Were

by Jonathan Downin in Games725 days ago

Another month means another episode of Irrational Behavior. We still don’t get any new information about Irrational’s next game, but there is some fun to be had in hearing about the early days of some of the guys’ development experiences. The focus is much more on the development environment as opposed to specific game reminiscing as in the 1st episode, but Thief is brought up a few times. The discussion start off with how things were different in the earlier years of game design and the impact that GTA 3 had on approaches...

CastMedium Podcast 022 – 02.01.10

by Jonathan Downin in Games, Tech725 days ago

3 topics this week, and 1 of them only takes up 1 minute of the discussion, so it is down to 2 epic discussions. Just like everyone else, Mass Effect 2 has captured our hearts and imaginations, and we end up talking about it for 20 minutes. MAG gets a quick mention, but we quickly move onto the iPad. We are universally somewhat underwhelmed by Apple’s latest announcement, but that won’t stop us from talking about it– or wanting to get one. That’s it. Let us know what you think about Mass Effect 2, MAG or the iPad in the comments....

gdgt weekly 071

by Jonathan Downin in Tech725 days ago

Ryan and Peter are back to talk about their impressions of the iPad and they provide a lot of insight here. On par with the Engadget crew, the gdgt guys try to examine all aspects of what the iPad is, and what it needs to be for them to be happy. The ‘no multitasking’ card is played here, but they don’t linger on it too long. Ryan is especially bothered by the inability to use the device effectively with 1 hand. The lack of Flash support is touched on as well. On the positive side, Peter can appreciate the idea of upscaling a...
