Game Scoop! Podcast, Episode 154

by Jonathan Downin in GamesFebruary 26th, 2010 @ 9:59 pm

It should almost go unsaid at this point, but this week’s Game Scoop! is all over the place. Word of a “cocktail-wear required” Final Fantasy XIII event kicks things off before David shares some love for the latest (and last?) Borderlands DLC. Charles got some hands-on time with Street Fighter IV for iPhone and has some positive remarks about its translation.

The middle section here is dedicated to discussion about downloadable games that leads into another edition of Ryan Geddes 1-man segment, now titled Inverted Look. He talks about DICE and the trend towards “gamelettes.” Emails take up the last 1/3 of the show and Knockin’ Boots is noticeably absent this week.

Covered games and topics: FFXIII launch event, Borderlands DLC, SFIV iPhone, downloadable games, Civilization V, Inverted Look – DICE, emails

Welcome back to Game Scoop!, your weekly dose of gaming news and random hilarity. Your shepherds this week will be Daemon HatfieldCharles OnyettDavid Clayman, and Kristine Steimer. We learn all sort of interesting fun facts about each other on this episode. For instance, Clayman is actually a crazy homeless person, and Charles always carries small bills crumpled up in his pocket, just in case he finds himself in a strip club.

We IGN editors absolutely love Pac-Man Championship Edition. So we’re at least slightly excited to learn more about Pac-Man Battle Royale.

Borderlands’ latest and greatest DLC is out: The Secret Armory of General Knoxx. Clayman has your review.

Charles has been playing Street Fighter IV on iPhone.

Downloadable game round-up: Greed Corp., Lazy Raiders, Fret Nice, Starship Defense, and Flipper.

Geddes stops by to point out that the game industry is bad at naming things.

Plus we answer a bunch of reader mail about Nintendo commercials, videogame research, and selling old games. Don’t forget, we’re available on iTunes, along with episodes of Game Scoop! TV. Remember to rate the shows while you’re there.

  1. JonCole says:

You know what else is noticeably absent from this episode? Greg Miller.

The Greg-Daemon dynamic is one of the best reasons to listen to this show and it leaves a gaping hole in its wake that Dave simply can't come close to filling. Furthermore, I typically like when Kristine is on, but without Greg she seems to not get much time to talk.

    I'd just skip this one.

  2. TJ' says:

Greg Miller on podcast is awesome, but I say his articles are very crappy pieces of journalism. Bataman detective mode, achievements and trophies, ME2 and UC2. are all very mediocre writing. This coming from a guy who can barely write emails!

  3. Alistair says:

But you have anything positive to say, @mgscholar?
