Sega’s Ethan Einhorn sits in for Greg Ford this week and as a result the show takes on a rather different format than usual, although that wasn’t the plan. An attempt to start the what you been playing segment leads to very brief discussion of BioShock 2 and Heavy Rain with much of the feeling from last weeks show being echoed.
Quickly however the show begins the first many tangents as the guys start telling stories from back in their Ziff Davis days. Tales of prank phone calls to Gamestop and funny stories about fanboy managers follow.
Most of the show is taken up by a lengthy and interesting discussion about how the guys think games will be distributed in the future. The idea of renting games digitally is suggested and seems like a valid approach. Pricing of games also comes up with the apparent problem with digital and physical pricing being too similar being a focus. The show closes out with listener tweets.
This week! We have Sega’s Ethan Einhorn drop by as a guest and don’t even get around to the normal What’cha Been Playing segment. But it’s still an interesting podcast for a variety of reasons. We talk about well, a lot. Digital downloads, game prices, iPhone games, XBLA, DLC, etc. Just listen.
