Episode 25 means no Erik (yes, again), a 4 man show and me using my MacBook Pro’s internal mic for the first 10 minutes (yes, also again). Our impressions of the EGM digital edition peek start the show and it is pretty. We also hit on DICE and last week’s 4 Guys 1UP from the developer conference.

Heavy Rain is still the hottest game around and we are focusing on the quicktime event mechanics that are central to the gameplay. Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth looks good, but the conversation moves onto our loss of interest in our DS and PSPs. Aliens vs. Predator is out and we can’t stop ourselves from taking a few easy shots at the game. Seriously though, it is better than Rogue Warrior.

The Windows Phone 7 Series announcement sparks our interest in getting some achievements on the go, but it is a hard sell for those who are entrenched in the established iTunes App Store. The Wolfman disappoints in movies, but Shutter Island sounds good and we are enthralled by the trailer for Inception.

Covered topics and games:  EGMnow, 4 Guys 1UP, Heavy Rain, Miles Edgeworth, AvP, Windows Phone Series 7, Wolfman, Shutter Island, CO-OP Live

Runtime – 35:18

  1. Erik says:

Good episode guys, I'm sorry I missed out. Though, it's worth noting that it takes two men to fill my role.

Anyway, I just got notice that Heavy Rain is coming through Gamefly, and I'm looking forward to trying it out. Right now, I'm thinking about it not as a game with measurable win-conditions, but as a real interactive story. There are a lot of ways it can go wrong, (bad controls, poor performances, and glitches), but I think the potential is there for this to be something different.

In my mind, I'm associating it more now with the old choose-your-own-adventure books than with conventional games. The different paths and endings are in there, but I have the freedom to find them beyond the normal gating of a regular game. That might not be apt, and may not even hold up once I start the game properly, but I think it could help me enjoy it more.

Good stuff guys, new to the site and appreciate the quick games this week summaries

    Giant Bomb rocks :)
