With the upcoming PSP re-release of the first game, Lunar is the game up for discussion on this weeks show. Jeremy drops a few spoilers for the game without any warning so if you haven’t played Lunar and plan to it may be best to skip this segment. Alot of the discussion floats around the differences between the many versions of the game. Being an early CD based game the guys talk about how appealing it was because of the novelty of voice acting and animated cutscenes.
After Lunar the crew move the topic onto the developer behind it, Game Arts. Rather than focus on the company the guys talk about more of the games they made. Ray played the remake of shooter Thexder Neo so he provides the bulk of the commentary here. The discussion is fairly scattershot, the guys fleet between a few games such as Grandia and Silpheed.
A slight change in format has retro game news at the end of the show this week. Oddly the segment opens with a lengthy discussion of a non-retro game in Legends of Exidia. The virtual console release of Alex Kidd in Shinobi World leads to a brief retrospective on that series.
Jeremy, Ray, Chris, and a strangely transient Justin Haywald sleepily revisit the Lunar series and the overarching Game Arts ouevre. All through the niiiiight, keep marchiiiiing oooooon!
