The Totally Rad Show – Episode 150: Hockey Kahn

February 2nd, 2010

Edge of Darkness is the movie this week, the guys describe it as part revenge film, part political intrigue film. Alex and Jeff think the execution of this combination is very well done and enjoyed how each aspect complimented the other to give things a bit more impact. Dan however disagrees completely and in fact thought that each aspect of the movie was mediocre and the combination made them less than that.

In a previous episode Dan hoped for a shooter where the distant sounds of battle were in fact other players, MAG certainly fits that criteria. Unfortunately he and Alex aren’t too high on the game, both agree it’s very cool in concept and is enjoyable in places but think it falls short and lacks the refinement of similar games.

With no tech segment to discuss it the guys roll their iPad chat into the games section. They are all pretty excited about what it could mean for games. Jeff thinks multitouch on a larger scale like this could lead to some cool innovations in the RTS and similar genres. The twitter question segment returns to close out the show.

We walk the Edge of Darkness with Mel Gibson. MAG brings 253 of our closest friends into the firefight on PS3. Is the future bright for iPad games? Miramax no more? Plus, your twitter questions!

Runtime – 47:45
