Ryan and Peter are back to talk about their impressions of the iPad and they provide a lot of insight here. On par with the Engadget crew, the gdgt guys try to examine all aspects of what the iPad is, and what it needs to be for them to be happy. The ‘no multitasking’ card is played here, but they don’t linger on it too long. Ryan is especially bothered by the inability to use the device effectively with 1 hand. The lack of Flash support is touched on as well.
On the positive side, Peter can appreciate the idea of upscaling a mobile OS for the device rather than trying to shoehorn a desktop OS into the device. Its potential as an e-reader is praised as well, but the message has been a bit muddled in the guys’ opinion. Ryan also predicts the keyboard dock meet a quick demise. With all of the disappointment surrounding the unveiling, a surprising amount of people are planning to pick 1 up, including Ryan.
Not that this will come as a shock or anything, but this week we’re talking Apple iPad — and pretty much nothing else. Yeah, we’ll get into a few other tablets, too, like the Dell Mini 5, the HP slate, the Fusion Garage JooJoo, and so on, but you can definitely consider this one our iPad show!
