iPad, and the potential it holds for gaming, kicks off this week’s 4 Guys 1UP. John and David have a lot to say about it, and the prevailing opinion is mixed, but John is the most positive. He makes some good points about game developers needing to approach the device differently and that it may be targeting at a more casual audience. It’s easy to forget that not everyone uses computers in a multi-tasking, power user sort of way. John also touches on GamePro’s approach to capitalizing on these kinds of new devices for digital publishing.
Microsoft’s Xbox-centric game event, X10, is just weeks away and the group speculates on what we will see there. John has heard rumblings that Project Natal is not what “we think it is,” and will not have a huge presence. Fable III and Halo: Reach have been confirmed, as has the reveal of a few new games.
The forthcoming Resident Evil 5 DLC that returns to the RE1 mansion and Split-Second receive some discussion before the group jumps fully into Mass Effect 2. The story of Mass Effect 2 is the focus here, and while spoilers are skirted, there is plenty here that could taint your experience if you want to go in completely fresh.
Covered games and topics: iPad, future publishing, X10, Resident Evil 5 DLC, Split-Second, Mass Effect 2
Between the iPad and Monster Hunter Frontier port it’s been a week filled with underwhelming announcements. That’s ok because we’ve been playing plenty of games that will pick up the slack. While Sam and John talk about their hands-on experience with Apple new wundertablet, Scooter and David spent some quality time with Resident Evil 5′s first DLC package and blew a bunch of stuff up in Split-Second. Then we round it out with our spoiler-free love in for Mass Effect 2. (Note: If you haven’t played through Mass Effect 1 we spoil the hell out of that one.)

It's a good point, but you won't find me complaining about that. John always lines up with my sensibilities, and while David still seems to be working out how to take the main host seat, he is a good counterpoint to John.
I don't agree about the spoiler thing though. I appreciate their awareness of people's want to have a fresh experience. I think they handled it perfectly. Context is the most important point when dealing with what information means.
