This week picks up right where last week left off, with more discussion on favorite games of 2009. For those who didn’t tune in last week, the CO-OP guys have assembled a group of some of their more regular guests for this discussion. Downloadable titles are first focus of conversation, with David Ellis mentioning that Flower had what he felt were the best Sixaxis controls of any PS3 game. A quick stop on the quirky Noby Noby Boy leads to Dan Hsu talking about his love/hate relationship with one of my favorite games of last year, ‘Splosion Man.
An in-depth discussion on Mario Bros. Wii brings mostly praise except for Ryan who seems to feel that game might be a little overrated and feels the same about the Wii’s year in general. Sticking with Nintendo, the discussion turns to the solid year the DS had with Kat Bailey getting in her hardcore RPG picks as well as some more mainstream games like Bowser’s Inside Story and Rhythm Heaven.
Heading back to consoles, this year was good for loot lovers with the likes of Borderlands and Torchlight. They dip back into the RPG genre to discuss one of the most divisive games of the year, Demon’s Souls, which some of the guys admit they may have been playing wrong. The talk closes out with the agreement that the year had too many games to ever get through.
It’s the second part of our epic, 2009 year-in-review special! We assembled a crew of the finest CO-OP regulars to share what their favorite games of 2009 wound up to be. This isn’t a “Game of the Year” rank-a-thon, but rather a recollection of what made 2009 such a freakin’ awesome year for gamers!
