At the top of the show, Ryan talks a little bit about his experiences with Tatsunoko vs Capcom, which comes out next week on the Nintendo Wii. Some of the most interesting facts he reveals are that the game has very little localization and the Phoenix Wright playable character is only available in the Japanese version, for the most trivial of reasons.
Capcom’s newest fighting game transitions into a conversation about the general state of fighting games and some of the guys’ nostalgia for older fare. Anthony is certainly no fighting game diva, his last serious conquest possibly being Killer Instinct for the SNES. He curries a little bit of favor with Ryan, however, with his love for Mortal Kombat II.
Brian has been playing a little bit of The Saboteur and he seems to be having a bit of fun with it. Anthony notes that the game is quite overt in its racially insensitive commentary, including the protagonist shouting “top of the morning to you” as he punches an enemy in the face as well as ubiquitous scotch jokes.
This week Brian, Brian, Ryan and Anthony discuss an array of fighting games (both new and old), Ratchet and Clank, and your letters. It’s a shorter show because of scheduling conflicts, but one of our more on-topic ones in a while. Please keep sending us more letters to answer, you’ve all been doing a great job so far! Enjoy!
