We get a truncated episode this week since the guys missed their usual recording time due to the holiday on Monday. This actually feels like the perfect length for The HotSpot though, so hopefully this a trend that will continue.
Chris Watters makes his requisite cameo appearance up front here to share his thoughts on Dark Void. It has had a somewhat troubled development, and it seems shows in the final product. NPDs get a bit of time as usual, but there are no big insights here– spoiler alert, Nintendo controls the charts again. It could be interesting to see what happens between Microsoft and Sony since their sales are now at almost complete parity though.
The usual slew of ESRB ratings theater, emails and homework close-out the show.
Covered games and topics: Dark Void, game awards, NPDs, ESRB ratings theater, emails, homework
Kevin VanOrd, Tom Mc Shea, Chris Watters, and Brendan Sinclair peer into the Dark Void, and the Dark Void peers back into them. With Capcom’s latest out of the way, it’s time to close the book on 2009 with December’s NPD figures and take a look at recent innovation in games, or the lack thereof.
