The Book of Eli is the movie this week, notable for being written by recent 4 Guys 1UP guest Gary Whitta. The guys are all a bit down on the movie, they all enjoyed the setpieces and action scenes but the things surrounding them didn’t do much for them. The crew discuss the recent news of Spiderman 4′s shift from Sam Raimi helmed sequel to director-less reboot. Jeff hopes this bodes well for his hopes of Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Peter Parker, the general feeling seems to be that this is a good thing at least for Raimi fans.
When the guys saw Dark Void at a preview event last year they were all pretty excited, Dan even wanted it to be optioned as a movie, those feelings don’t appear to have carried over to the finished product however. Mediocre is the consensus here, the guys feel like there are nothing but missed opportunities with the game, which is a same because the ideas behind it are so interesting. The first trailer for Lego Universe was shown at CES, given their love of Lego and enjoyment on the Lego games the guys have high hopes for the game.
Since they didn’t pick any top comics of ’09 the guys decided they’d check out the iFanboys‘ picks. The first book, Asterios Polyp, doesn’t hit with everyone, Dan loves it but Alex isn’t a fan, Jeff sits somewhere in the middle. Parker: Hunter is the iFanboys pick for book of the year. The fact it is based on the same book as the movie Payback seems to have sullied it a little for the Dan but everyone likes it alot, the art especially, even if they don’t agree it was the best of the year. The guys answer a viewer email to end the show.
