Starting off the new year with the same old drunkards, DGR changes up the show formatting a little bit this week and starts off with emails while the drunk dials move to the end of the show. One email asks the guys about the best way to get into shmups without having to deal with bullet hell. All three agree that Raiden Fighters Aces is a good place to start.
The reviews segment starts off with Cartoon Wars-Gunner for the iPhone, which Hilden has been enjoying and describes as stick figure horde mode with upgrades. Next up is Castlevania: The Adventure ReBirth for WiiWare which is described as a pre-Symphony of the Night, linear Castlevania done in 16-bit graphics which all the guys enjoy. The retro review for the week is World of Illusion for the Genesis and John showers it with praise by calling it one of the best 16-bit platformers.
With no feature presentation this week, DGR goes right into 5 Things. First up is Battle Kid: Fortress of Peril, a new NES game being put out all these years afterwards. Even more exciting to all three guys is that Cave has announced they are porting Mushihimesama to the iPhone. Games they have been playing and a long segment Drunk Dials close out the show.
