Giant Bombcast 12-01-2009

by Derek Lavigne in Games799 days ago

With Brad out of the office, site designer Dave Snider sits in on the podcast this week. A recap of the holiday break takes up the first part of the show with tales of food and holiday events. Assassin’s Creed 2 has been on the docket for many of the GB staff and Vinny took the time with family to throw in some old games like Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2. Talk then turns to the month of December being slow on the new achievements and what everyone’s plans were on catching up on missed titles. Jeff mentions Ratchet & Clank:...

Mobcast Episode 31

by Jon Cole in Games799 days ago

The Mobcast is more or less back to normal this week, welcoming ex-EGM editor Crispin Boyer.  At the top of the show, the guys talk about both their most anticipated games of all time and some of those that didn’t meet their expectations.  Ultimately, it seems like the excitement really stems from their respective childhoods and the nature of having a limited number of games. Michael’s topic tries to make sense out of the seemingly inexplicable upcoming Dark Void movie and why AAA games typically don’t get represented on the big screen. ...

at1UP: 12/01/2009

by Jonathan Downin in Games, Misc799 days ago

PAX East is the first topic up this week, and unfortunately at1UP is not in the running for potential 1UP podcast panels. The 1UP Game of the Year community poll is approaching and the group discusses that before giving their current personal picks of Batman, Dragon Age and Prof. Layton 2 by Mike, Travis and Jade respectively. Jade is excited about the cat-infused Sukeban Shachou Rena– just check out the video below. Things turn a little more serious with Zynga’s recent exploits taking center stage. The AOL rebranding is certainly aesthetically...

The HotSpot 12/01/2009

by Jonathan Downin in Games799 days ago

The game talk kicks-off with Avatar this week. Kevin has been playing through it for review, and while he doesn’t want to tip has hand too much, he does say that it “is not great.” Mass Effect 2 comes off with much more positive impressions from Shaun. In light of poor sales of last years Prince of Persia reboot, and the forthcoming Disney movie, Ubisoft is heading back to the Sands of Time series for its next Prince of Persia game. EA wasn’t lying when they said that the Pandemic name will live on. They have announced the...

Drunken Gamers Radio 11-29-09

by Derek Lavigne in Games799 days ago

With Moe back from his business trip, the drunkards are once again back at full strength. To start off the show, the Drunk Dials this week are especially sauce-filled this week leading the guys to wonder how many of their callers are now in detox. The mail bag is full of absolutely hilarious tales of Chuck E Cheese that DGR asked for a couple weeks back that just have to be heard to be believed. The reviews segment starts off with Little Big Planet for the PSP, which by all accounts sounds very similar to the PS3 version. Next up is Assassin’s...

Player One Podcast: Episode 162 – Finishing Bowser’s Castle

by Ross Adams in Games799 days ago

This week’s especially funny cast starts off with the crew telling tales of their post-thanksgiving sales pick-ups. There aren’t many, but everyone is loving the Steam sale that was on over the weekend. Some listener tweets are up next, topics range from embarrassing podcast moments to Sega Saturn game recommendations. Some very brief Modern Warfare 2 talk kicks off what you been playing, after taking up at least 20 minutes during each the last few episodes the guys feel they’ve overdone it a bit. Greg Ford has been playing the...

Windows Weekly 132: Google Bing

by Jon Cole in Tech799 days ago

Office 2010 is the big topic for this week, with Leo Laporte and Paul Thurott coming through to give you some tips on getting started.  The Office Beta is currently public and Paul notes his preference of the Office Home and Business 2010 option, which offers Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Outlook, and OneNote.  The Click-2-Run option for the beta is also a hot issue, considering Leo really enjoys the virtualization aspect and believes we’ll see many similar applications in the future. Leo talks about his recent attempt to use the developer build...

CO-OP – Episode 307: The Jason Show 2: Outtake Boogaloo

by Jonathan Downin in Games800 days ago

As announced last week, this week’s episode is an interim entry as the guys are on vacation. Jason is heading things up for the second time with his self-title show, but his segments are kept more minimal than they were the first time around. There is 1 regular game segment this week in New Super Mario Bros.Wii. Bitmob‘s Dan Hsu is sitting down with Cesar and composer Paul Greenleaf to share their opinions on the game, and there is nothing too new here. The hectic gameplay commands the bulk of the discussion, but Dan, as always, has...

The Totally Rad Show – Episode 141: Cranapple

by Jonathan Downin in Games, Movies800 days ago

Both of the movies this week have a polarizing effect on the crew. Ninja Assassin garners appreciation in an 80s action flick sort of way from Jeff and Alex, but Dan feels like it is teetering on the edge of being another Street Fight: Legend of Chun Li. The Road again strikes Jeff and Alex as well done, but Dan feels like it was a let-down, especially in its cinematography. Viggo Mortensen receives universal praise though. In the middle segment, the guys can’t help themselves and give the new Star War Force Trainer a go. It is intended to...
