The Geekbox starts it off on a fairly “light” note this week, following up on the discussion of racism in Disney movies brought up last week. Luckily, they move away from this touchy subject to talk about the new Games on Demand service offered by Games for Windows Live on PC. Ryan Scott asks why someone would use the service with respect to the vastly superior Steam platform, but Karen rebuts with the somewhat obvious note that GFWL offers achievements and Microsoft is likely building the pipes for a later, expanded delivery system that’s better supported.
The distribution plans were recently announced for EGM and Karen isn’t really impressed with the promises of the weekly digital magazine, considering it’s not really a new practice in the fumbling magazine industry. In fact, nobody seems too excited about paid online editorial at all, with the main question being whether or not there will be anything really worth paying for.
At the end of the podcast, the issue of racism springs up yet again, so this episode really isn’t for the culturally sensitive or easily offended.
Wherein we discuss our boring-ass Christmas plans, more fun racist Disney stuff, Microsoft’s latest non-commitment to PC gaming, the new EGM, insane ramblings from Roadie Brock, speciesism, and more World of Warcraft 3.3 awesomeness.
