A bit of a change to format and cast for this weeks Retronauts. Jeremy Parish has gathered some 1UP editors to come and share their Christmas gaming memories. After some fairly brief retro news, with the most noteworthy release being Super Smash Bros. on virtual console, it’s onto those memories.
As you’d expect from the topic the bulk of this weeks main segment isn’t the usual Retronauts. Mike Nelson shares some pretty amazing stories of Christmas scavenger hunts and presents hidden in laundry. Jeremy explains why Lemmings reminds him of one particularly sad Christmas and Sharkey tells the story of a none too clever criminal.
The latter half of the show kicks off with Sharkey and Jeremy discussing the formers recent article about Lucasarts’ online role-playing game ‘Habitat‘. Jade Kraus and Justin Haywald join Jeremy for the rest of the show to talk about Final Fantasy VIII which was released on PSN this past week. Each of the three represent different levels of feeling for the game, Jeremy loves it, Jade very much doesn’t and Justin sits between the two.
Note: This will be the last Retronauts of ’09 so look for new episodes in the new year.
Covered games and topics: Retro news, Christmas memories, Lucasarts’ Habitat, Final Fantasy VIII
We’ve checked out for the year, so Sharkey, Tina, and Mike join Jeremy for an aimless, rambling discussion of random holiday gaming memories. Then Sharkey sticks around to talk about Habitat before Justin and Jade hop in to talk about FFVIII’s on PSN.
