This week’s Mobcast is a Gamespot reunion of sorts, bringing our host Aaron Thomas to the table along with 2K’s Greg Kasavin, Giant Bomb’s Brad Shoemaker, and soon-to-be-Stardock’s Jason Ocampo. That’s right, towards the end of the show Jason confirms that he’ll be moving to Michigan to take the new job, we wish him plenty of luck.
The first topic asks what impact social games will have on the gaming sphere, especially with companies like EA and Activision putting major stakes in the race. Brad seems skeptical, because social networking sites and thus social gaming platforms are very fickle and have little staying power.
Coming right off of social networking, the guys talk about big trends of 2009. Greg takes the most controversial but most cogent position that gamers aren’t looking for innovation and rather for execution, with greatly refined games in the marketplace like Modern Warfare 2. The show wraps up with talk about the most powerful gaming moments of the decade and stories about writing deadlines.
It’s a reunion of former GameSpot editors on this week’s Mobcast. Bitmob’s Aaron Thomas is joined by 2k Games’ Greg Kasavin, Giant Bomb’s Brad Shoemaker, and Jason Ocampo, who may or may-not reveal his new gig during the show.
The foursome discuss holiday memories, the decade’s top-gaming moments, 2009’s biggest trends, deadline writing, and the place of social games in the hierarchy of gaming.

Can't wait to listen to this one. I admit it, I'm a Greg Kasavin fanboy.
Good to hear about Jason Ocampo as well.
