Justin McElroy is off the show this week due to some internet problems, but Ben Gilbert is in to take the third chair. Don’t fret, though, because Justin calls in early in the show to rant about Dante’s Inferno, which is decidedly a direct ripoff of God of War. On a similar note, Visceral also announced Dead Space 2 as well as the Isaac Clarke playable character in Dante’s Inferno, which is met with little surprise.
Richard Mitchell also calls in, who talks about Silent Hill: Shattered Memories in the Whatcha been playin’ segment. Richard is much more positive about the game than the guys at 1UP, citing a clean interface, great graphics, and natural plot explanation of gameplay mechanics.
Finally, JC Fletcher joins the podcast as the third guest to talk about Yakuza 3, which was recently announced to be slated for a U.S. release. Sadly, however, the game is to be released within a week’s reach of Final Fantasy 13, which may seal its fate before it hits the streets.
Covered games and topics: Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, Dante’s Inferno, Assassin’s Creed 2, Yakuza 3, Mega Man 10, PS3 firmware update, Dead Space 2, White Knight Chronicles, Mass Effect 2
We sent a canary down into Justin’s West Virginian internet pipes and, just as we expected, it keeled over dead. Those pipes aren’t safe and, since safety has always been our #1 concern here at the Joystiq Podcast Warehouse, we’ve asked our own Ben Gilbert to step in.
Justin does join us for a quick phone chat about Dante’s Inferno, Richard Mitchell joins us to talk about the chilly welcoming of this week’s Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, and JC Fletcher helps us make sense of that Yakuza 3 news. Oh, and Photochop Man Alan Black reminds us about Mega Man 10.
