David is in LA this week for the VGAs, so the sound quality is markedly worse than usual. Billy Berghammer and former Pandemic producer Cory Lewis join-in this week and it makes for a fun cast. Cory answers some questions and offers some insight into Pandemic and what happened with the recent mass lay-offs. He also touches on more general industry topics like technology and how console generations affect developers.
NPDs start the news and the guys spend a lot time talking about their impressions of the numbers. Mega Man 10 was announced, and it will be coming in the same retro form as Mega Man 9. The Spike Video Game Awards and the general perception of them gets some discussions before the group moves onto game talk.
Assassin’s Creed 2 comes up 1st and you will probably want to skip the 1:28:20 – 1:31:00 mark if you haven’t finished the game. Modern Warfare 2 gets a due share of praise, and David talks about his recent time with Just Cause 2.
Note: The show cuts-off awkwardly near the end, and according to David’s Twitter, is missing the last 14 minutes. There is no replacement file available yet.
Covered games and topics: Pandemic closure, evolution of the industry, Mercs 2 development, NPDs, Mega Man 10, VGAs, Assassin’s Creed 2, Modern Warfare 2, Just Cause 2
With the VGA’s looming we’re recording on the road (pardon our echoes) in not-so-sunny LA. Friend of the show Billy Berghammer joins former Pandemic producer Cory Lewis as we talk about the studio closing and relive memories of the Gamecube launch. Along the way we discuss our favorite games of the year and what the VGA’s need to do to become the Academy Awards of video games.
